Surgery date???

I was notified by my insurance company that they approved my surgery with the date that the dr. office requested of Oct. 15th!!  I haven't heard from the dr. office about this, so I emailed my advocate there who gave me a number to call, which I did and I'm waiting for a call back.  I am so nervous.  I just want a confirmation of the date and what to expect.  I hear that they have you do a week of liquids before surgery which would be a week from now that this would start.  I am nervous to have the surgery but so looking forward to life after surgery!  I am going to the Y today, and hoping to do more walking, wanting to build up to 5 miles, so far away, but I know the lighter I get the easier this task will be.
