I have been overweight since I was in 1st grade. I was a big baby... 9lbs 3 1/2 oz. My parents are both "larger" people as well... my entire family is mostly made up of "larger" people.
I've tried it all to lose weight.... Atkins, Weight Watchers, Phentermine. I have recently lost about 25lbs on phentermine, but that was in the first 3 months of taking it. I've been on that for about a year. That is usually what happens to me. I will lose about 2-30lbs and then hit a brick wall. Can't get it down any further.
I have been considering WLS for about 7 years now. Unfortunately when I first started to think about it my insurance would not cover it. I work for very small law firm and that stupid Maryland Law about it not having to be covered if you have less than 50 employees, blah blah blah.
Soooo... fast forward to last month. I called Kaiser (we just switched to them about 6 months ago) to see if WLS was covered under my plan and I almost fell on the floor when they said it was! I was really prepared to hear the usual "no" because your company does not have enough employees. So here we go... sit down, sit back and put your seat belts on... this is going to be bumpy ride!
