Taking Matters Into My Own Hands

Nov 09, 2006

Okay, I have had enough waiting for help from doctors.  I saw my new physician for the second time today.  The first visit we talked about referral for bypass surgery and he told me he would find out what he had to do to refer me.  I was very excited, had to wait three weeks to get back only to be told he forgot about it but he thinks I need to be under a dieticians care for six months and he knows I need a psychiatrist to write off on it.  Okay, I am pretty sure that the clinics have all of those services in one place.  The doctor told me to find a dietician and a psychiatrist on my own!!!  Good lord.  So I have been spending hours online looking for surgeons that my insurance has as a provider.  I found one that looks extremely promising and through his website found this site.  I decided I will do this myself, I am tired of waiting and if I get much worse I may not be able to have surgery at all.  My diabetes is requiring more and more insulin and meds and I am adding more conditions from the diabetes.  I have been on high blood pressure medicine as of October 1, 2006.  My blood check just revealed an elevated cholesterol and protein in my urine meaning my kidneys are not happy.  I want to feel good.  I don't think I have ever felt good.  I suffered from bipolar (depression unendingly) and now that I have started getting treatment for the depression and feeling better mentally my body is holding me down.  I will try to keep every informed of what is happening.  I have noticed that most of the blogs on here start when they are trying to get approved.  I don't know how to start just to find a surgeon and really think that the beginning of the whole process needs to be somewhere so a person can find out how it is done.  Maybe someone will learn how NOT to do it from me. LOL.
