I was on this website earlier today and was reading some of the stories of people who have had, or in the process of waiting to have gastric bypass surgery.  I saw Dr. Joffe in November of 2004 and was told there was a three to five year waiting list to have the surgery.  Thanks to cut backs, he is only able to do 2 surgeries a week and only given so much time in the OR.  It is so frustrating.  Depending on the day, I either want to have the surgery or not.  I am so torn.  Two and a half years ago I joined a weight loss group, but I have only lost 27 1/2 lbs.  I am sick of being stared at and having people make comments about what I look like.  But as I said, I am torn.  I know I can go to the States and have the surgery within 6 months, but I am on disability and can't afford to stay in a hotel for a week.  I'll keep thinking about it.
