Let's see, my story. Well, I am 29 years old happily married to Bryan for coming up on 8 years. I am the proud mother of an almost 3 year old son, Gage and a 16 month old daughter , Shauni. I have been overweight since I was in 5th grade. I started dieting when I was about 11 years old. You name the diet I have most likely tried it.
I thought about gastric bypass/Lap Band for several years before I finally started the journey. I decided that I wanted to have my children before I underwent my surgery. So almost a year after my daughter was born I went into Suncoast Hospital to have a surgery that has already changed my life.
Unfortunately, that surgery had complications. The doctor came ot of my surgery and told my husband it was one of the easiest she had done in a long time. She said my body cooperated with everything she wanted it to do. However, that night when they went to get me up out of bed, I passed out in the chair and then proceeded to vomit up blood. They moved me to ICU right away and the next day they started some blood transfusions. I ended up with 4 units of blood, 3 iron infusions and 5 nights in the hospital. Luckily, the bleeding corrected itself and did not require any further surgery.
When I left the hospital I was still pretty tired, but managed to go back to work 2 days later. Shortly after that I started having severe pains and by severe I mean worse than labor pains. Come to find out that my gallbladder had turned on me. So 12 weeks after the bypass, mind you I was almost 100 pound lighter, I went back into the hospital and my same surgeon removed my gallbladder.
Since then everything has been going pretty good. I have not thrown up a single time, not counting the blood, since my surgery, I am down 113 pounds and my energy is outstanding. I am able to chase my children around without getting short of breath. I would definitely do it all over again.
