12 years out update

Sep 20, 2019

So here I am 12 years after my surgery. MY surgery weight was 264 my current weight is 174. I am up from my normal. I am usually 150-160. But after years of suffering for 10 of those 12 years I am finally pain free. I still have complications. But am doing better than I ever did. I still dump, I still get the foamies, I still hiccup, I still get nauseous, and I still cant eat Mashed potatoes...lol I do however eat everything else. I still cant eat a lot at a time I do manage to eat things I probably shouldn't. Carbs are my friend and I know they are not good for most people I still have them. I live off of toast, crackers wheat thins and cheez-its. I eat Mini peanut butter cups and by that I mean 3 or so every other day. I eat a lot of soup because I get less nauseous. Also COFFEE is my drug of choice. I get asked all the time if I would do it all over again with all the complications I suffer. And my answer is the same every time. ABSOLUTELY!!  Hopefully I remember to update more regularly.

8 year update

Jan 03, 2015

Wow January 16. 2015 will mark my 8 year anniversary since my surgery pre surgery weight 264lbs. Current weight 148lbs overall doing well still having issues with my digestive tract I've been diagnosed with IB and I have not been able to afford a tummy tuck so I've been dealing with tearing of my skin under my flap although I don't get infections because I keep it very clean it seems that when one side heals the other side tears oh well the story of my life. My pouch has not stretched to much I still eat child portions but I am able to eat often. I am able to tolerate sugar in moderation milk is my enemy. And no mashed potatoes for me although fried potatos are just fine. In conclusion considering I was given 3 to 6 months to live and it's been 8 years I guess I'm doing something right.

Update for 4 years 8 months after Surgery

Sep 11, 2011

Again it has been a long time since I have updated my profile. It has been 4 years and 8 months since my surgery. I am sorry to say that I had gained back some of my weight. I got up to 197lbs. 3 months ago I decided to go see a diet doctor and thanks to there help I am down to 164lbs and still loosing. I am once again having trouble with all the loose skin. My diet doctor has given me a referral to a surgeon to hopefully have it removed I see him next week. My chief complaint is back pain and side pain it is hard to carry around all the excess skin.  I have found that I still can't eat certain foods like Eggs, and Cheese. I also don't tolerate milk. Since I have gone to see the diet doctor I don't ear Carbs and my intake of food has gone down to approximately 1 cup of food for dinner and a fruit for breakfast and that's it I get full fast and cant eat anymore or I feel like I will throw it up. Over all life is good most of my health problems went away when I lost the weight and I am glad to say that only my high blood pressure stayed with me I am taking a mild dose of medication for that. Hopefully when I am able to have the excess skin removed I will feel much better about my body. I will try to remember to update as my next phase progresses.
Until next time peace to all,
Alice

2 years 6 months

Jul 09, 2009

WOW It really has been a long time since my last update. I am doing ok I have not been around because I have had some issues. I had lost to much weight and was getting ill. I have battled and corrected my issues. I have gained some weight I feel better but am concerned that I have gained to much.  My doctor said that my body was starving it self due to lack of vitamin B-12 Pills worked and I had to stretch my pouch to allow myself extra food. My lowest weight was 136 and now I am at 158. Although I feel healthier I have allot of loose skin. No plastics for me in the near future due to financial problems. commonly known as unemployment. both my husband and I are unemployed. I would like to loose some weight but I hate the hanging skin I feel better with it filled in. is this crazy or what. I am in a size 12 way smaller from a 24. I still don't consume allot at a time but I eat often probably every hour or so. I eat more now than I ever did before but it is just spread out. I do find that if I exercise I drop weight fast. but the rapid weight loss is not good for my heart. so no exercise for me darn lol. well until next time have a great day!!!!

October Update 10 months since surgery

Oct 26, 2007

I have not updated in a long time. I have been doing so good. I still have trouble eating but I can now eat about 1/2 cup of food 3 to 4 times a day. I still don't get hungry and need to be reminded to eat. I do snack mostly in the evening. I eat sunflower seeds, corn nuts, sesame sticks, and popcorn. just small quantities. I am down to a size 8/10. I can't believe how thin I look. I have never been this tinny. Did I say TINY? Oh my god I did!! What a great feeling.I still loose about 2 to 4 pounds per week. I hope it slows down soon My arms and legs are too thin and my collar bone shows. I always thought I had large bones well I don't, it was just all the fat. I guess I can admit it now. Over all I am happy to be Alive.
Warmly,
Alice

Wow I have not updated in a while. Well after my last surgery I was very weak and not feeling well. but today I am doing better. I returned to work and am doing so much better I still have problems eating food. I have no hunger and need to be reminded to eat. I eat about two tablespoons every two hours and that is working great for me. I have lost 80 pounds since surgery woohoo. I went from a tight 24W to a 14 juniors. I am very happy about that. I take my vitamins regularly  and I take zigered for my ulcer. I take more pills than I eat solid food that could be why I am not hungry. I am having to deal with allot of loose skin it is hard to hide it. Very flabby and ugly. I was apposed to Plastics but now I think it is a necessity. I have started a savings fund for that. Just thinking ahead.

Another surgery

Mar 27, 2007

On March 15th I had to have my stricture stretched again. This is now my third time. I was told that this could go on for the rest of my life. I can eat more now than before but not enough to keep my body from starving. So I have to take my vitamins and protein to keep myself alive. I do my best. I try to eat slowly and often that does help. I still am loosing weight like crazy I am starting to get flabby I guess I need to exercise but I don't have allot of energy lately. No food no energy. I will try to update soon.
