5/16/06- Today I picked up my new CPAP Machine from Total Sleep Diagnostics. This machine will help me with my Sleep Apnea problem, which has lessened considerably.

5/12/06- Aetna received my precertification request today!

5/11/06- Chris received the letter from Dr. Brinkman and he emailed me to say that he sent the letter and the packet to request the surgery to Aetna today! I still cannot believe it is going so fast!
I also received a phone call from Total Sleep Diagnostics to say that my CPAP machine will be ready to pick up on Tuesday! I will have to pay $29.75 and will have the option to buy the machine later for $75.00.

 

5/8/2006- I called Dr. Brinkman's office today to request that he write a letter in my behalf to add to my insurance packet that Dr. Davidson's office will be sending to Aetna. Hopefully, he will have it faxed over before the end of the week, so Chris can send the packet to Aetna! Then the waiting game begins!

5/6/2006- I had a breakthrough this week! Being on a 1200 calorie a day diet encourages you're stomach to growl. I couldn't remember the last time my stomach growled! For the past 15 years, I have overfed myself and my stomach NEVER growled! It is a simple process that I never allowed myself to experience! I ate all the time, mostly when I wasn't hungry! I am now learning to eat when I AM hungry!

5/5/06- Today was my final appointment for my 3 month doctor supervised diet with Dr. Davidson's office. I was informed that they will be sending my insurance approval request to Aetna next week! My counseler, Chris, said that I have everything required to be approved and my chances were very, very good! I was also told that if I am approved that my surgery date would be in early June! Chris said that he would call me when he received Aetna's decision and would schedule my stress test and surgery date at that time.

5/3/06- I had an appointment with Dr. Meltzer (the psychiatrist) and it went very well. She is helping me uncover what has caused me to gain weight to begin with and how I can overcome my emotional eating problem. I am looking forward to getting past these issues and will be seeing her monthly before and after the surgery.

5/1/2006- I received a phone call from Dr. Mintz informing me that he was prescribing me a CPAP machine because I didn't have any sleep apnea with the cpap machine and that Total Sleep Study would be contacting me when it was ready to be picked up.

4/29/2006- Well, My 2nd sleep study was tonight and it went very well. I got all wired up and goop in my hair. I slept with the cpap machine and It took about 20 minutes to get used to the machine and I finally passed out around 11:30pm. I awoke around 5:30 and my back hurt.

4/20/06- Today I have my 4th appt with Dr. Brinkman to discuss my weight loss and lifestyle change. I only have two more appt's until I complete my 6 month diet program with him!
