I am RNY bypass surgery on Dec. 13th of 2006. Someone ask me  recently how long I thought about it before I did it. I said for over 2 years I said I would NEVER have gastric bypass. Once I went to the information meeting I realized I needed to do this. This was not the "easy way out" it was the "only way out to help me get my life back as I wanted it to be". I lost 20 pds on the prediet and as of today, Feb. 22, 2007 I have lost another 49. I think I am considered a "slow" loser but I am THRILLED with losing 69 pds so far.
I did have complications following my surgery. I leaked and went back to the ER on Dec. 19th and had another surgery that day, Home on Christmas Eve;) and was back again on Jan 1 to the 5th with abesesses (SP) on my spleen. A week later they had to drain almost a liter of fluid from my left lung. Even after all of this I know I made the right decision. I have 2 boys, 13 and 9 and I want to be around for them for a LONG time and I want to beable to be active.
I am so happy to have found this site..it has helped me so much and if I can help anyone else please send me a email.
