Hello all~ For any of you experts out there, I need some help on some definintive answers about the calcium debate. I had my surgery through Bariatric Treatment Center in Michigan and they tell us to take TUMS for our calcium supplementation, yet I hear, read and take Citrical myself due to the better absorption, but I want to know WHY these Bariatric Specialists recomend TUMS if it's not the appropriate calcium to take? Also, where can I get some definitive information on WHY Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Patients should take the Citrate vs the Carbonate? Websites, any local info I can look up? I just want to have validation behind me when I say that Citrate is better than Carbonate....and I just don't understand why BTC recomends TUMS if it's not the BEST choice? Please anyone HELP!!!! Jackie~Thanks for posting to my page, I am waiting impatiently for the 5th and a WLS buddy would be great to have. I just turned 29 and have 2 great kidlets too. My hubby can't come down to the hospital when I have surgery but my MOM is having surgery the same day too! We have a good friend that is going to take us there, she had her surgery 4 weeks ago and is doing fab. Let me know if you want to email direct or not, that may be easier and I do try to get on the computer every day, if they let me! Thanks & God Bless ~Amy

Hey I posted on Jackie's surgery date (2/8) another update later that evening....and well all that showed up was the dashes.......sorry... I talked to Jackie on Friday night and she said that she was in a lot of pain...she was hurting and I think really thinking what the heck did she do to her body...But I saw Jackie yesterday and I have good news....she was getting better...here is my newest news: (teeheehee) Well Bob and I went to see Jackie yesterday and she was having tummy muscle spasms (sp??) so she got a shot to take that away...and once she got the shot she started getting silly. Jackie was still in a lot of pain yesterday, but it was better then Friday...and today she is better then yesterday... All in all yesterday she was good...I helped her out of bed and she did walk the halls...and she went potty (woohoo) on her own.. I spoke with her this morning and she got some much needed rest...and so far doing okay. She went for her leak test, but didn't know how she did...(I am asuming good)..They gave her a pain shot and I think she gets her pain killer pump thing taken out today. She did get a shower today and she said it HURT...but that is about all I have to report.... Jackie should be home tomorrow....woohoo*!!!!!!!! ~A~angel out~A~

Congratulations, Jackie! It's wonderful to hear that you're doing much better today. When I heard how much pain you were in yesterday, then I got scared about my upcoming surgery. But I hear you're walking and the pain is manageable. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Linda :-)
