Wow.. Things are much better now..

Oct 15, 2009

It's been a long time since I've posted.. I have now lost a total of 90 pounds since surgery on April 14th 2008. I have been between 158 and 161 for a couple weeks now.. I recently bought size 10 jeans.. WHAT?? That's crazy to me. I am still in a size 12 slacks.
Even better news is the job situation. I landed in a very rewarding position with people that I just love to work with.. I never in my 15 year career with BofA felt the appreciation that I have been shown in the three short months that I have been at my new job. I just finished my schooling for Clinical Medical Assisting.  It was so hard to work full time and go to school at the same time. But it was soooo worth it..

Today is a good day

May 22, 2009

I got a phone call this morning that just may change my life (for the better)
It was a job offer. I was floored. It meant the world for this person to believe in me and offer me this position. I have an interview on Tuesday. I sure hope things work out. I have been out of work since November and my stress level has peaked. The call could not have come at a better time. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I saw my doctor on the 14th and decided to have a fill. I think he gave me a little less than a 1/2cc. I should be around 6 1/2 cc's now. I have been sick with a sinus infection this week so I was not able to make it to the gym all week. I weighed in this morning at 178.2 though so I am happy. I lost a little more than 2 pounds this week. Yahoo.. I might try and hit a spin class tomorrow morning.. Or I might just take it easy and take the dogs for a walk.

Happy Memorial weekend.

11 Month dr. visit

Mar 31, 2009

Yesterday I saw Dr. U for my 11 month follow up/check-up. The scale in the office read 179!!!!!! (Although they take 4 pounds off your weight since you are clothed). My home scale this morning read 181.6.. Wow, I'm shocked. I am less than 10 pounds away from my weight in 2001 when I was working out like crazy and taking 6-8 Metabolife daily. This time I am doing it the healthy way.
I did not want a fill yesterday as I have plenty of restriction (currently 5.5 cc's) and still get myself in to trouble now and then. (PB'ing and sliming) My 1 year check-up will be on May 14th. I am having an upper GI scheduled to check on my band placement. I have had some changes in where I feel my restriction. Hopefully everything checks out ok. I feel good, just want to be sure. I will be having my blood work done a week before my appointment too. All is going good. I'm able to wear size 14's finally. I tried on a pair of 12's this morning and they went on and buttoned and zipped but they are too snug yet. I'm real close though. Hopefully they can go with me on my Sedona trip. We leave on April 11th and I'm stoked. Can't wait to spend time with the family and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Until next time.. Damn, I still need to find a job.

Have I broke my plateau?

Mar 03, 2009

Today was the three week check in for the OH Mother's day challenge. I have lost 6.2 pounds since the challenge started on 2/11/09. This morning my scale read 185! I was stuck bouncing the same three pounds around for three months before this challenge began. I really hope that I can continue to lose again. As of today I am 40 pounds from my goal of 145. My fingers are crossed.

9 Month Bandiversary

Jan 14, 2009

9 months have passed since my surgery. Wow! I can't believe it. A lot has happened in that time, both good and bad.
My weight is still remaining at a stand still despite my increased exercise. This is the first time in my life that I have trainers and instructors that know who I am at the gym (except for when I used to work at a gym many years ago). That should tell you how much time I am spending there since being laid off in November. Wish the scale reflected my time committed.
I need to buckle down and stop eating crap, like ice cream. I thought the cravings would go away with the summer heat, wrong. It doesn't help that the temps have been in the 60's and 70's this week.
I went in for my doctors appointment last week. I was up two pounds since my last appointment in November. I had a little breakdown in the office but was reassured that my loss was on track and my doc was happy with my progress. I wasn't convinced.
I am currently at 5 1/2 cc's after having 1/2 cc removed in November when I had a fill that was too much for me. I'm in size 16 jeans and have a pair of 14's standing by that I try to get on every couple weeks or so. I got rid of more clothes recently. Mostly old t shirts that have been hanging around. They are way too big now. Now there's more room in the closet for the new stuff that I've aquired with the after X-mas sales.

I'm still unemployed and searching for work. Ugh! So frustrating.

Slight unfill today

Nov 24, 2008

I went in for a slight unfill today. On 11/6 Dr. U put in 1cc bringing me to 6cc's. Well since then I have had problems such as not being able to eat anything besides liquids until the afternoon and lots of stuck episodes with slimming and pb'ing. I had about 1/2 cc removed so I am back to 5 1/2 cc's now. I go back on 12/22 for another check-up.
I have been doing better since my last post. I am staying busy at the gym and trying to keep my chin up about the job situation. I updated my resume and have already posted for a couple of jobs. I am keeping a positive attitude. Wish me luck!

What a miserable week.

Nov 04, 2008

One week ago today I was told that my last day with my job, after 15 years of service, would be November 11th. WTF!
That night I went out to Chinese food, which I haven't touched since prior to my surgery. I had two bottles of Sake with dinner and I had two shots of Crown Royal when I got home.
Then last Sunday I went out to brunch with a girlfriend and drank far too much Champagne then proceeded to the local watering hole to chase that with 4-6 beers.

I bought three bags of Halloween candy and didn't hand out one as we ditched the house and went to dinner and a movie. Now there are maybe 8 small snickers bars left and guess who has eaten the majority of the missing candy? Yeah, you guessed it.

Last night my neighbor brought over some chocolate cream pie from Nations and yes I had a piece of that.

Well this morning my scale read 197.8. Prior to this slippery slope I had actually had a couple of 193 days. This is not good.

I see my doc tomorrow for my six month follow-up. It's a few weeks late because he was out of the office. I am so pissed at my self for this back slide. I really hope I can turn this around.

6 Months already?

Oct 15, 2008

Yesterday was my 6 month bandiversary. Wow! My weight loss has slowed a great deal since July/August but I have no one to blame but myself. My doctor has told me to increase the exercise but I have not been able to find the time to do that. I know it's an excuse.

Well I have had a total of 4 fills giving me 5cc's in my 10cc AP standard band. I have more restriction that I believe as I have issues with different foods expecially dry meats. I really have to be conscious of my chewing. When I'm hungry the first couple bites usually don't get the attention they should and next thing I know I'm uncomfortable. So, slow down and chew your food. Easier said than done. So six months and 50 pounds down I can say that is better than any diet I was ever on.

I've been bouncing from 194-197 for too long now. On Monday morning I saw 193 but it was quickly followed the next day by 197. WHF? Ice cream is evil, I repeat ice cream is evil. God I just love it though.

I have had no band or port issues so far. That's a plus. I'm wearing jeans that I have had stashed in the closet for close to 5 years. They are size 16 Calvin Klein's. At the beginning of my journey I was just starting to wear size 20 jeans. A lot of my favorite tops that were too tight for me fit good now, some are even too big! Downside to this is bras are expensive!

Can't wait for the new Sports Club to open here in town. There will be three heated swimming pools. I love to swim and can't wait to check out some water classes. The grand opening is November 6th.

I've got something to look forward to this weekend... I'm picking up my new motorcycle. I'm selling my Sportster and buying a Road King. Oh chrome, lovely chrome. I've already got a wish list going. It's funny I told myself in my thirties that I would have a Harley by the time I was forty. I got the Sporty when I was 36ish and felt good about it but now I'm 40 and I'm getting a Road King. Now I really feel like I've accomplished this goal. Wish me luck to handle this beast. Thank you SANDIRAND for your words of encouragement.

Well I've really got to get some work done.

Cheers to to good health OH friends!
