Today is my 4 month Bandiversary

Aug 14, 2008

Well today marks my four month Bandiverary. I had my four month follow up on Tuesday of this week. Per the doctors records I have lost a total of 47 pounds total. I weighed in at 198.5. I didn't quite make the 50 pound mark that I hoped I would reach by this visit but I'm close. I celebrated my 40th birthday last week on the 7th and I've had some dinners, treats and drinks that haven't helped my progress. I've got one more trip to Tahoe next weekend to celebrate this birthday then it's back on the wagon.
I did get my fourth fill of another 1cc to bring me to 5cc's in my 10cc AP standard band. I'm getting close to having some restriction. I had an issue with scrambled eggs and hamburger this morning. I only got a couple bites in and had to give it up and switch to some yogurt. I hope this is a good sign.

I got to swim with the dolphins on my birthday. Check out the picture that I posted. It was a lot of fun.

Cheers to good health!

Onederland, finally!

I had my 3 month post-op appointment. I weighed in at 199.5 which is a total loss of 46 pounds (pre and post-op). I am very happy to be back in the 100's. It's been a long time. I know my progress could be better at this point but I am enjoying summer and with summer comes cold beer and ice cream.
I received my third fill yesterday. I got another 1cc so I am now at 4cc total in my 10cc AP standard band. I'm not feeling any difference with this fill.

2 Month follow-up and 2nd fill

Jun 18, 2008

On Tuesday, June 17th I saw my doctor for my 2 month follow-up. My weight was 204.5. A total loss of 40.5 pounds since my surgeon consult. My Doctor is happy with my progress. I wish it was better. I did get a second fill of 1cc bringing my total to 3cc's. Still feel no restriction as I had expected. My next appointment will be on July 15th.
I have been able to get in to some clothes that I had not wore in some time. Even a nice bra that I held on to. So even though the scale isn't performing as expected things are changing with my body.

Attended post-op meeting last night

May 28, 2008

Went to my first post-op meeting last night. It was very interesting and informative. There was a mix of bypass (mostly) and banded people that attended. I was so surprised at the lack of knowledge the bypass people had of the band system. I did so much reading on the different types of surgeries prior to making my decision. With such a major surgery I would think everyone would want to make the correct educated decision. I know that the Lap-band system isn't the correct procedure for everyone but I would think you would want to know and make that determination yourself. So many bypass patients are experiencing issues since surgery. I am so happy to have made the Lap-band decision.
I did weigh myself after the meeting and have only dropped one more pound. At least the scale is still going the right way. Better to lose one pound then gain it, I guess.
I am doing well with going to the gym. My eating has been good. Getting my protein in. I think I may have to go back to replacing one of my meals with a supplement. One pound in two weeks isn't cutting it.

1st Fill today

May 13, 2008

As of yesterday it has been four weeks since surgery. I had my second follow up appointment today. I am only down three pounds since my last visit. I did get my first fill today. He put 2cc in my 10cc AP standard band. It's a start. I was so hungry last week. The fill wasn't bad at all. The worst part was the numbing shot. My incisions are looking better. Still have two that are healing.

Got a little off track

May 06, 2008

I made a couple of bad food choices this past week.

#1 Strawberry-banana smoothie from Sonic. Traveling home from a visit with my Grandpa my fiance and I stopped by Sonic. I was thirsty so just had intentions of getting a bottled water and ended up with a Strawberry-banana smoothie.
Then yesterday....
#2 Cinnamon-sugar cookie (with frosting) from the Cookie Bouquet. This is no ordinary cookie... It's like the size of four cookies. I ATE THE WHOLE THING. I have no restriction right now so it went right down. I wanted to kick myself in the rear end. At least the smoothie had some fruit and yogurt in it. This cookie was nothing but T-R-O-U-B-L-E...

I had to confess... Now get my butt back on track.

30 pounds lost - 80 to go

Apr 29, 2008

Today was my first follow up appointment with my surgeon. I was very happy to find that I had lost a total of 30 pounds. 12 of those since surgery on 4-14.
One of my incisions is still open and of course it's right at my waist so I am still sporting sweats. I would really like to get back in my jeans one of these days. I have had no food issues and I'm doing well getting my protein intake. I started back at the gym last week with some easy work on the treadmill. I had not been there in many months. I think I am off to a good start.
