I know that this has been hard for you Janet. But there are still things you can do. You can ask for a state appeal hearing. They can make your insurance pay for the surgery. I know it gets you down, but you should explore all options before you quit trying. I will be praying that you do eventually get the surgery. God bless.

HI Janet, keep the faith. If they don't approve you appeal right away. Depends on the medical group. I too live in the High Desert. I know insurance so if there is anything I can do just let me know. Take care.

Hi Janet, Thanks for the well wishes and congrats on my weight loss that you sent today. I have not had any complications thus far and as for pain after surgery...I don't really recall the first 2 days post-op due to breathing problems which caused me to spend time in ICU (I had severe obstructive sleep apnea and the dr.'s say it may have made it difficult for me to come off the ventilator). Also the morphine I was given for pain REALLY did it's job for me as I had very little pain and was zonked! On the 3rd day post-op I was hitting the pump so infrequently my dr. dc'd it and wrote pain injections and/or orally in my orders! So be sure to ask your dr. how he plans to control YOUR pain. Feel free to e-mail me if you wanna talk about what you may expect. But keep in my mind everyone is different and while there may be similarities- there might also be vast variations. Bless you and yours, Julie

Hi Janet, Yes I had my surgery on the 23rd of october. Two week ago. You wanted me to talk about the surgery, but I'm not sure were to post it, so here it is. Anyway, I had the surgery early in the morning. I remember the Drs. coming to wheel me back, they gave me a shot of something and I woke up in recovery at 9:15am. I did have quite a bit of pain and the nurses said to push my morphine button. When they realized I wasn't getting relief they gave me a shot in my leg and it took the edge off. After that the morphine helped. After another day on the morphine they switched me to percicet and that helped just fine. No problems from the surgery except a splitting headache from the anastesia. My family was great, I told them to stay home because we were 1 1/2 hours from home and I was able to sleep, sleep, sleep. On the second daythey gave me liguids to eat. High protien soup and high protien jello (both gross) but the next day I had pureed food.(not to bad)After two days They sent me home and I was a little sore but the percicet helped. After one week I was up on my feet and doing great. I think all the protien you have to drink, helps you to heal faster. I had several surgeries before and was never recovered this fast.At my one week visit they took my staples out(didn't even feel that) and at two weeks I'm down 15 pounds (and several inches from my waist)and was able to go shopping and a birthday party. I feel Great. (Except that my Bra's are to big already)earlier this week I did have a bout with a extreme headache and came to find out that I was dehydrated. So I drank about 32oz in one hour and it went away. I will watch my drinking better. Pretty boring, my case. No side effects, no hunger and no getting sick. Good luck to you and hope to hear from you soon

Hello Janet. You know, i've had many experiances like yours, not being able to fit comfortably in a seat (you would think at a doctors office they would have seats large enough for EVERYBODY) and i've had people stare, but there's one thing i've noticed about myself since i started this journey into WLS. I am now more confident about myself because i know that i am doing something to change and fix my problem. A few months ago you couldnt have tortured my real weight number out of me, but now, i dont mind sharing it with anybody. I also walk with a lighter step, knowing that soon, i'll be on the losing side. We can fix our problem, but people that stare, point, call names and the like, there's very little hope for them. There's nothing they can do to fix that inner ugliness. Keep your chin up hon and dont let those cruelties get you down. This journey is a personal one for us all, and damn the people that cant understand where we've been, how we got there, or what we're going through. God bless you hon, I pray that everything goes well for you. - Chrissy in Ky

Janet, thanks for your comments about the TLC program. I too have a friend who had the surgery in October and had her first problem a few days after the surgery and within the a few days of that was rushed back to the hospital for emergency surgery. Although we are friends she has yet to tell me what really happen to her and I think it is so I won't get discourage or chicken out. After carefully thought yesterday I know I'm continuing on because I just don't want to be this way any longer. I wish you the best in your journey. My surgery date is December 6, 29 days and counting!
