My name is James and I live with my wife, Miranda, and youngest son, Isaac, in Fort Wayne, IN.  It seems that I have always struggled with my weight since I was around 10 years old, except while I was in high school.  Even then I was never quite considered thin.  I have tried many of the popular and fad diets over the last 20 years to get the pounds down.  While I can loose weight, I just can't seem to keep it off.  This past December I went to an informational meeting about gastric surgeries with my wife to find out about these procedures and what it would take to be eligible.  At this meeting, I weighed in at 417 pounds but do not know if this was my heaviest weight as I can flucuate by as much as 10 pounds from one week to the next.  Since then I have been jumping through the necessary hurdles to meet the eligibility requirements that have been set by my insurance company.  I found out on June 5 that I was approved for the vertical sleeve gastrectomy, finally, and have a surgical date for July 23.  My wife is set to have the same surgery on June 23 so you can say that we are doing this together.

My goals include the following:
Get down to at least 250 lbs.
Be able to wear size 38 pants (currently I am wearing size 48-50)
Be able to wear a 2XLT shirt (currently I am wearing size 4XLT)
Be able to start jogging again as I did when I was in high school
Get my BMI below 25%
