Jennifer, I am proud of you for losing 81 pounds. Think how much healthier you are and how much you have helped your heart by lowering it's work load. Your clothes are getting looser and that must feel great! By loosing all that weight you have improved your health and will be able to do so much more with your daughter. She sounds like a real angel. Sometimes after WLS there is a period of depression. You might want to talk to your doctor about how you are feeling and he may be able to help you. Don't give up. Your new life is just beginning. I am still waiting for my surgery. I will be having the open RNY on September 23 here in Alaska. If no one notices your weight loss but you, then they are all blind. But remember you are doing this for you and not for them. Perhaps they are jealous about your loss. Please don't give up. Hang in there and things are going to change for the better. Good luck to you.

Hi Jennifer :) Congrats on your GREAT weight loss so far! 81 lbs is fabulous! YOU know how well you've been doing and this is what should matter most. Whether others notice or comment on your loss shouldn't make a difference, although, of course, I do understand how it's nice to hear such comments. When I was about 65 lbs down at 3 months post-op, I also wasn't hearing comments. I even asked my hubby and a close friend if they could tell a difference, and they said "we can see it in your face". I had to remind myself that it's all part of the process. Being that I started out SOOOOOO heavy, the 65 lbs didn't really show. But the smaller I get, each few lbs lost show up more, and it becomes more obvious to myself (and others) that I am losing weight. The fact is is that even with 84 lbs gone now, I am still morbidly obese. I weigh 284 now which is higher than where some people start out as pre-ops. I am also not seeing any major changes in clothing size as of yet. I went from super tight 26/28's to loose 26/28's and some 22/24's. But I just keep reminding myself that eventually, the differences WILL show. So I'm just staying patient with the process :) Keep reminding yourself of the reasons you had the surgery to begin with. Did you have it just to get more attention from others? From reading your profile, this isn't why you had it. And you ARE reaching some of your goals, so keep your focus on what you can DO now that you couldn't before.

Jennifer, I read your profile page to get to know you better, and you seem like a strong woman that is determined in the areas that are important to her. You have a loving family as well. You need to go back and read your earlier posts to see why you had this surgery in the first place. You wanted to live and to be healthy. It hasn't been that long for you yet, after a lifetime of unhealthy eating I think we all expect it to just melt away. My date is 9/11 and I finally had to have a reality check and realize I am not walking out of that hospital thinner, but I will have a tool to use to get there and God willing I will be healthier in the process. I hope that you will overcome this hurdle quickly. Sue (good luck)
