After being overweight for nearly my whole life, I decided it was time for a drastic change. I am 29 years ago, and want to be able to enjoy my life. I cannot imagine what I would feel like at age 40, 50, etc if I did not do something.
I started looking into Gastric Bypass Surgery in September of 2006. When I tried to get approval from my insurance company, they required me to do a 6 month dr supervised nutrition program. I started seeing a Nutrionist in December of 2006. By June 2007, I had lost 35 lbs and was able to submit to insurance all of the other documents they needed to approve me for surgery.
I got approved for surgery on July 24, and surgery was scheduled for August 6, 2007. In addition to the RNY, I also had my gall bladder removed, and a hiatal hernia repaired. Everything went well with my surgery, I spent 2 days in the hospital and have been home recupperating since.
As of August 18, I have lost 26 lbs! (less than 2 weeks since I had surgery). I am slowly getting used to eating small amounts. I was just moved to pureed/soft foods 3 days ago.
I am very much looking forward to the journey ahead of me!
