Well, I am not sure where to begin. I guess my weight problem started in High School. I was not a large person but, it all started with 10lbs here and 10lbs there. I joined the military, and the only way I maintained their standards was nothing short of an eating disorder. In 2002 I separated from the military and gained over 80lbs in a year and half. Didn't know it at the time but I have insulin resistance and have PCOS. Five years later I have lost both my parents to heart problems and a sister to cancer. A good friend, who has already had WLS, told me she was really scared for my health and asked if I ever thought about having the surgery. The answer was yes, but the talk was what I needed to get off my butt and take care of myself and my family. I went to my PCM for the referal, and a two weeks later I was in for my inital consult. My surgeon, Dr. Warrnock, is a great man. My surgery was approved by my insurance. I barely met the weight requirement, but thank God I am short and small framed. I am waiting for my husand to come home from Iraq to have my surgery. If everything go smoothly he should be home in time for my surgery on Oct 1 2007.
