It's been a while

Nov 11, 2009

Well, hello, everyone.  It's been forever since I have given you an update.  I am down to 175 pounds as of today!!  My weight loss journey hasn't been very easy, so if anyone out there tells you that this is the easy way out, send them to me!!.  As you know I was 405 when I started the process of getting the weight off.  This means I have lost 230 pounds!!  How amazing is that??

I still have what I call "fat guy syndrome" as I still feel fat even though people tell me how "normal" I appear.  At times, I still struggle with food that I know I shouldn't eat because  a few bites will make be very sick, but I do it anyway.  I suppose it will continue to be a life long process, but I am so happy now with my new body.  I can wear a size medium shirt or sweater and a size 34-36 pants.  wowweeeee!!!

I have been asked to speak at Dr Yasrebi's seminars almost every month, so if any of you see me there be sure to say hello!

Hugs to all,
Jerry

Feeding tube

May 06, 2009

The Dr. took out my feeding tube today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Those of you who had a feeding tube will understand just how happy I am!!!  I feel human again!  The weight is still coming off.  It's just a little slower now, however.  I told the Dr. that I am walking about 45 minutes and he was not happy with that.  He said I need to be walking at least an hour, but I am still soooooooooo tired.  I will do what he says though because he is amazing!  I haven't had many complications other than the overwhelming fatigue.  I will post again soon.  Best to all!!

Hi, all.  I am getting stronger each day and starting to do more and more.  I acutally went to lunch with a friend today.  It was soooooooo amazing.  I ordered the baked potato soup from chilis.  I had ONE cracker and about 4 spoons of the soup and was full.  I was so happy!!  The weight is really melting off.  I have lost almost 20 pounds since April 7th.  This is just a short update!......Be well

Follow up!

Apr 13, 2009

I had my first follow up today!  Everything is going very well.  My Dr. removed every other staple on my incision and told me I could start drinking flavored water!!!  It has been so hard not being able to drink.  I feel like a new person today just because I can sip some flavored water.  My Dr. was unyielding about fluid intake by mouth, he only allowed me ice chips and popsicle for a few days.  I was never hungry but was always thirsty.  I did loose some weight.  I lost 10 pounds in 6 days.  The Dr. thought this was a little too fast so asked that I add another ounce of ensure to my feedings.  I am not sure how I will do that because it makes me feel so full, like I just had a buffet dinner, but will try to do what he asks.  He is an amazing dr!

Honestly, I had some regrets during my first few days.  I felt as though i had made a grave mistake, but today I feel like a new man.  I am glad that after this surgery you cant just say, "forget, I'm done".  When my Dr. asked me today, "how do you think you will feel when you get to 160 pounds?", I realized once again why I did this.  I have never known how it feels to have a normal weight.  Looks like I'm gonna know!!

On the other side!

Apr 09, 2009

Hi, all. I had my surgery as scheduled on april 7th.  I have to be honest, I was not ready for the pain.  I was surprised that it was so bad, but now it is much better and I am even taking just liquid tylenol now  The surgery went very well.  My Dr. said he found my appendix very high near my stomach and decided to remove the appendix as well.  So, I had the RNY, gallbladder removed and my appendix removed.  Just as promised Dr. Yasrebi was right there with me as I was awakened and did the first walk with me that was quite shacky at first, but the walks got better and I started looking forward to them as I would be very achy when we started the walk but by the time it was over I would want to walk more and felt better.

All I am allowed to have right now is juice through the feeding tube and ice chips.  I talked to my Dr. this morning and he said I could start with some liquids by mouth tomorrow and could take a shower.  He said he will call me in the morning and let me know how to do everthing.  He is really great!!  More later......

Met with Dr. today.

Apr 01, 2009

I met with Dr. Yasrebi today.  All of my blood work was normal.  The Dr. said I was in very good health and HIV negative!  Very happy to hear about that.  Got all of my meds filled today and with insurance it was 130.00!!!!  I started crying as I left the pharmacy and for the entire drive home because this is all REAL now and I am so happy.  I am so excited!  I will try to post something the day after my surgery to let everyone know how I am doing!
