It took me just over a year, and a couple of surgeon changes, to get approved by Blue Shield of CA. I could not afford self-pay but think VSG was the best choice surgery for me by far.
If you have that BS of CA and are denied for VSG on the grounds of "investigational," let me know and I can help with pointers and the letter that worked for me to have insurance company determination over-turned.
