1 week out

Aug 18, 2010

Hey all. So today is 1 week. I feel great. I hardly take any pain meds, mainly at nite. The first couple days i found myself questioning if i made the decision, but i think it was because of the drain. I was embarrassed to walk around with this nasty thing hanging around my waist. It started to get infected and the doc took it out yesterday (2 days early) and i felt sooooo good. I felt so good i went back to work early as well. My coworkers were suprised, but it felt good to be out of the house. I am having trouble getting in the required amount of liquid, the most i have gotten so far was 38 oz. I keep trying for more so hopefully i will get there. I am having trouble finding sugar free drinks that i like. I have tried alot of things i had before and they just dont taste great anymore. The hospital was giving me gerber apple juice diluted and i like that so i have been doing that as well. Yesterday i started full liquids and i was very nervous, i hate getting sick, so finally i gave in and had an oz of bacon and bean soup (liquified) and it tasted so good. Today i tried some oatmeal and that was good and some yogurt for lunch. I have had no weird reactions, so thats goods. The one thing i find really difficult it making my "food" last 1/2 hour. It is really hard to drag it out . I know that it will be easier when their is more consistancy to the food, but now its difficult.

I weighed myself today and im .8 lbs from the weight i was at the day of surgery. I lost 20 lbs preop gained it all back in fluid and now anxiously awaiting the fluid to go away. it takes fluid to loose fluid and thats hard when im only getting 30-40 oz a day. so ill keep my fingers crossed that by next week it will be better.
