Ten years post-op ... woohoo!

Sep 14, 2011

In January, 2011, I finally treated myself to the one thing I've been waiting for ... a full extended tummy tuck!  It took quite a bit more recovery than I originally anticipated, but it was sooo worth it!  No more girdles and tummy cinchers to hold in that skin!  The doctor said he removed around 5 pounds of skin.  Wow!  Got my abs sutured closed and I have a a belly button again for the first time in decades!

I'm continuing my fitness trek towards having a healthy metabolism by exercising with weight training.  My muscle mass is crucial to maintaining my weight loss.  Women, muscle is your FRIEND!  Do all you can to get it and hold on to it!  I'm down 23 pounds now ... and keeping steady.  I'm fitting into all the clothes that I wore at one year post-op.  Although the scale doesn't show the same number, I've added who knows how much muscle, so I don't focus on the number on the scale.  My body fat percentage is healthy, and that is what matters.  For a woman to have muscle is SOO empowering ... I cannot even convey to you the confidence it gives.  Ladies, it's not just the fat we need to lose ... it's the muscle we need to gain!

Okay, I'll get off my soap box now.  Thanks for listening.  Hope everyone is doing well.  Have a terrific fall/winter!
