First Post-surgery Office Visit

Nov 10, 2007

I don't know what I expected, but my first post-surgery office visit, was just a weigh-in and some questions about how I am doing.

Surprisingly, I really feel great! I've had very little pain, very little gas pain in my shoulders, and no complications. I do get tired after too much walking/activity. I feel weak, and that may have a lot to do with taking in no calories.

Dr. Hirai cleared me to start my protein shakes and the rest of my vitamins. That will help.

Work is on my mind, and I think that I could go back to work on Monday, but I had already planned to take next week off (and actually the week after too). I think I will work from home a little next week and be sure that I get a little stronger. Though my job is not physically challenging, it is very mentally challenging and quite stressful. It doesn't really stop either--everyone just calls me at home.  That said, I love the calls, I love my coworkers, and I love my job. Sometimes I can't believe that I can earn a living having so much fun. So, I really want to go back to work, but I think I will try to enjoy another week of downtime.

This morning was day eleven, and I've lost 19 pounds since my surgery and 45 since I started this journey.

Home from the hospital

Nov 02, 2007

My lap RNY is complete, and I was only in the hospital a little over 24 hours. Pain is a lot less than I expected. The staff at the hospital could not have been kinder. I am very tired, but having trouble sleeping, a little anxious I think.
