I have an appointment at the University of Chicago on April 11 for a consultation. Woohoo....finally! Although I weigh over 300lbs and suffer from the general problems that being overwieght cause, the only other documented health problems I have is sleep apnea. I currently have IDPA medical card and will be curious if they approve the surgery. I pray that it is approved!
I had my surgery on May 16th and was kept in the hospital for 5 days. I had to have 2 units of blood. I was sent home and my first post-op appt. was on May 28th. At the post-op appt. all seemed to check out well until they removed the drain. I began having extreme muscle spasms and was taken to the ER. They ran tests and found that I had a leak in my stomach area. I was admitted into the hospital for 7 more days, another drain inserted and a central line put in place for tpn's and antibiotics. My next return visit is on June 18th. I'm miserable!!!
