I started this very long journey in November 2005. My husband and myself went to the consultation. After listening and asking questions I decided for me the best option was the lap band. I started making all of my appointments. The center I go to is called Caremax and luckily for me all my testing was done there except for the cardio exam. After going through all of the testing and getting the okay we went through insurance.
I have ghi and blue cross blue shield. My primary wrote a letter for the insurance including my trying to lose weight. The letter was not specific enough and they denied me. I am not seeing an nutritionist and the new requirement from insurance is to that is also be medically supervised. So I also see my surgeon. I started in April by September I will have been 6 months supervised and then we can reapply.

What I find frustrating is that my primary recommended this center he has recommended this for other patients so I was annoyed that the letter he wrote was not good enough. He knows what has to be included, it is frustrating.

For something just kind of funny, ever since middle school I was told I was 5ft7in., so imagine my surprise that when I went to start this I was measured and told that I am 5ft5in. I don't feel that height and have a girlfriend that height and we don't stand head to head. Well I have an appointment with the nutritionist this Wednesday and we'll she what she says.
