4 days post op...

Feb 14, 2010

I have heard so many horror stories about all this and I was pleasantly surprised that it really is not all that bad.  It is difficult to stay hydrated, get in your protein, and all your medications.  However, that is something we all should have known before going into this.  I had a wonderful experience in the hospital.  The pain was not that bad.  I walked every chance I could and just did what they told me.  I feel great today.  I woke up in some pain but that is what liquid pain medication is for.  Today is the first day I have really felt like doing any blogging, emailing, or anything of the sort.  Every single day is better though.

I don't feel hungry at all.  This makes it difficult because you really do have to force yourself to drink your protein.  The bariatric coordinator said it best, "Just think of it as a required medication and get through it."  That is so true.  We have to have it for the rest of our lives.  That is what we signed up for.

The best things that you can have are 1. A positive attitude and 2. A good support system.  With these two things you WILL get through the surgery.  I know that with these two things I WILL succeed.
