New Low Weight AND a Fill
Jan 08, 2008
I was at 182 this morning! What a nice surprise! That's a new low for me.
I also weighed in at the bariatric center today and got a little fill. On their scale, I was the same weight as on December 19. How that could be, I don't know. But I guess I can be glad I wasn't UP!
My last fill was on October 10, and I had had good restriction with it. But recently I had felt the restriction wasn't as good as it had been and I might need a fill. So the NP and I talked about my concerns, and she agreed that I needed a tweak. I got an additional .1 cc, which puts me around 3.8 cc's. I was at 3.8 in October, but I expect that I might have lost some during the 3 months.
She gave me this fill with me standing, and it was the first time I was able to drink while the needle was still in the port. I've read about how some people's fills go and how they can have an unfill immediately if they have problems drinking. Now I understand how that works. With me lying down, they had to remove the needle and have me sit up to drink. This was nice and I felt assured that the fill isn't too much. I certainly don't want to have to get an unfill.
My next appointment is for 6 weeks, February 19. My goal is to be in the 170s on their scale!

The scale is finally moving DOWN again
Jan 05, 2008
I was FINALLY at 183.5 this morning after floating up and down for the past 5-6 weeks. The daily exercise and REALLY watching what I eat (and keeping track of it on fitday.com) is going to make a difference for me. I weighed 185.5 Thursday morning, 184.5 yesterday morning, and 183.5 this morning. Now I know I'm not really losing a pound a day; rather I feel as if I'm just getting back on track and allowing all of the excess fluid to leave my system.
It really feels good to be in control of my behavior and my choices.

A Weightloss Challenge
Jan 03, 2008
Well, I decided to join in on the 3-week weightloss challenge to see how much I can lose by the morning of January 24 (http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/lapband/action,replies/board_id,5359/cat_id,4959/topic_id,3488433/a,messageboard/)
It's been 3 good days so far this year--no, let me correct that: it's been 3 GREAT days so far. I've exercised all 3 days, and I have not taken even ONE bite of anything I shouldn't have had. Yesterday, my calorie count was 815 (low, I know), and today it was 1260 (probably about right). I have also burned more than 400 calories each morning in my exercise time. I have a fill appointment next Tuesday, January 8, so it will be interesting to see how much I have lost by their scales in 20 days. I should be down a couple of pounds--pretty nice since I ate pretty poorly over Christmas. But I'm back on track and feeling very much in control.

Exercise Challenge for January
Dec 31, 2007
I accepted Krista C's challenge to do 1000 minutes of exercise in January. With 31 days, that's 32.26 minutes per day. Surely I can do that. Most of my workouts are over 30 minutes with a few an hour or more. So I should be able to average out to 33 minutes. I'll start in the morning with a long workout of an hour or more, and that will start me out ahead of the game.
I haven't lost any over the break even though I've had good restriction and my meals have been small. I've just eaten too many sweets, I'm sure. There's no way to calculate the calories, but I know I've had way too many most days. Tomorrow is the start of a new year, one that I know I will weigh less at the end of! I've lost about 30 pounds in 2007; if I do the same in 2008, I'll have less than 30 more to lose. I'm down 60 now, so I'm more than halfway to my goal. 2008 is going to be a good year!

Doing well
Dec 21, 2007
I got up early this morning and spent 35 minutes doing a moderate-level workout with weights on the treadmill. It felt good to be back in a routine--even though I've only worked out a few days this week.
I also just agreed to take part in an exercise challenge to spend at least 1000 minutes exercising in January. I like having that special push to really dedicate myself to working out regularly. I'll have to find a way to fit this in, but it will be worth it. A little over 30 minutes a day is all it will take, so I'll plan 1 or 2 longer workouts each week to allow myself to miss a day each week. It'll be interesting to see how it goes for me.
I was at 184.5 again this morning after bouncing up and down for the past couple of weeks. In fact, the scale showed 182.5 once, but I never got that number to show again. Still, I'm losing again, and it feels good. I feel confident and capable. 170s, here I come.

Today's appointment
Dec 19, 2007
Well, I almost cancelled my appointment for today because I knew I didn't need a fill, but I thought it would be valuable to check in and get weighed. I'm glad I did because I was down 1.5 pounds (which is SO much better then being UP or the SAME!!). So my official weight at the bariatric center is 185.5 (with my low weight at home being 184.5).
I go back in 3 weeks on Tuesday, January 8, but I don't expect to need a fill then either. I think I have awfully good restriction right now. I just need to make good food and activity choices!
I've exercised twice in the past week. Starting tomorrow, I'm up to 6 or 7 times a week. I want to get below 180 for my next weigh-in. Can I make it??

A good start
Dec 12, 2007
Today was a good start to getting my stress under control. I started my day with a new activity: a yoga DVD! I found it at amazon.com last week and ordered it, but I hadn't had the chance to watch through it yet. But this morning, I popped it in my computer and did the exercises while it ran. It was pretty good, and I think I'll like using it. It felt good to stretch and to breathe in such a controlled way. The whole routine took about 45 minutes, so it's very doable. I'll use it along with my treadmill routines.
I also ate pretty well today, avoiding candy and cookies at work. I'll do the same tomorrow. I just have to make good choices a day at a time.

Too much stress
Dec 11, 2007
The past few weeks have been REALLY stressful. Too much craziness at work. Too many meetings. Too much pressure to get things finished by the end of the semester. And because of the stress, I've turned to some of my old friends: chocolate and ice cream. I don't feel that I've made horrible decisions, because I've tried to limit my servings, and I've avoided candy bars and packages of cookies. But I've been eating too many calories, I know. I also haven't exercised like I know I need to.
My weight has fluctuated, as is common for me, but I'm ready for it to start back down. I had set the 170s as my goal by the end of the year, but that's only 3 weeks from today, and I need to drop 5 pounds, so that probably won't happen. Even if I don't hit that particular goal though, I can get close. I'm getting on the treadmill tomorrow, and I'l watch every bite I take for the next few days. Extra diligence is all it takes.
I'm scheduled for a fill appointment a week from tomorrow, and I want to be down a few pounds. It's time to set my sights on my goals.

Thanksgiving
Nov 22, 2007
Today was a great day bandwise. Connie was hosting dinner at her house in Morehead, so we got up and had a lazy morning as we got ready to travel.
I drank a slimfast shake on the way there, along with a bottle of water to get my band lubricated. For dinner I ate about 6 bites of turkey, 5-6 bites of mashed potatoes mixed with stuffing and gravy, 2-3 bites of dumplings, 2-3 bites of corn, and 2-3 bites of green beans. I didn't eat any bread, even though the biscuits looked and smelled inviting. There were 3 types of desserts, so I asked for a bite of each. I instead got 2-3 bites of each, but that was enjoyable without putting me over the top. By the time we were done with dinner, I felt good--content, not stuffed. I wasn't the least uncomfortable--a feat in itself when I think back to my pre-band Thanksgivings.
I've had more sweets than I should have this evening after coming home, but I still haven't done too bad. For supper I had 1 piece of McDonald's chicken selects, 4-5 bites of cream-style corn, and a serving of mandarin oranges. I also ate what was left of last night's Italian chocolate cake from Carino's.
I don't have any ice cream in the house, so I shouldn't be too tempted to be bad this weekend. I'm working on a tremendously difficult package for work on Monday, and I know I'm going to want to comfort myself with food as I work. I'll just make the best choices I can and let my band limit me as it can.
