"Dr. Gazmuri and his staff at Newton Wellesley Obesity Associates are very friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate. Prior to surgery, they addressed the concerns of myself and my husband honestly and professionally. My surgery went well and I had no complications. During my hospital stay, Dr. Gazmuri stopped in to check on my progress at least twice a day (alone in the morning and with Drs. Partridge & Thayer in the evening). He has a great bedside manner. I recommend him without reservation to anyone looking for a WLS surgeon.<p>Newton Wellesley Obesity Associates has an excellent structure and support system in place -- they have dieticians and psychologists in house and have support group meetings for people at various points in the process (informational, new post-op, general) several times a month, each led by staff members. They emphasize partnership in the process and long term aftercare. I am completely comfortable with both the people and the structure. "
"The staff at the hospital is excellent, very caring and supportive. My husband was allowed to visit any time without a problem. The hospital provided oversize chairs, wheelchairs, gowns, and special bariatric beds to accomodate the needs of obese patients. <p>There were some communication problems during my stay (my diet was never advanced, so I got the same meal every meal for the 4 days I was there and I was not given my normal maintenance medications for asthma & depression until I was wheezing, had oxygen problems and was crying for no reason on day 3). I was concerned by this. I was provided with a morphine pump and later liquid medications, but I felt that my pain could have been much better controlled (the morphine only helped when I took enough to knock myself out -- I was usually around a 5 on a pain rating scale of 1 to 10). "
"Cindy has a great grasp on the challenges facing WLS patients, both pre- and post-op. She was a good listener and was able to answer many of the questions that I thought only the surgeon could answer! My only regret is that she doesn't accept my insurance (Tufts)."
