Ten things the DS has done for me :)

Apr 14, 2011

It's been 9 months and 7 days since my BPD/DS, and I am down 125 lbs. This puts me to 239 lbs from 364! Talk about amazing! I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I would weigh less than what I did in high school again. I am officially a size 18/20 now, and loving every damn minute of it!

Here are ten things that I never in my life thought would happen again, and all because of the DS!

1. I can cross my legs! I haven't been able to do this since I was a teenager! What an amazing feeling it is!

2. I can sit in any chair I want, without the fear that my ass will wedge into it so much that I won't be able to get back up again! And some chairs, my hips don't even touch the sides! How freaking crazy!!

3. I can walk a mile without even feeling tired!  Before surgery, I walked with my kids a few times around our neighborhood and after 1/4 a mile, I had to stop and rest because I felt like my heart was going to pound out of my chest. Now, I walk almost daily, an entire mile, and am not out of breath in the least. And that's at 239lbs! I cannot even begin to imagine how I am going to feel once I hit 150lbs!

4.  I can fit into the bathtub, with room to spare! This is something I have wanted to do for so long. I love baths, but it's no fun sitting in one when you're wedged in there like a sardine in a can! I laid in there the other night with the radio on, lights off and some candles lit, for over an hour, and it was amazing!!!

5. I can now shop off the rack at Old Navy. May sound silly to some, but I hate ordering clothes online without first trying them on. I love Old Navys clothing line, and longed to be able to shop there. Now, I can shop off the rack there, and it's not even in their highest size, it's a 1xl!!

6. I actually LIKE taking full body photos now. Who would have ever thought that would happen!  I used to avoid full body shots like the plague, but now, I'll be the first to hand my camera to someone and say hey, will you take a full body shot of me! I am proud of how my body looks now!

7. I'm actually getting hit on, on a regular basis now, lol. I never experienced that before, and it's a crazy feeling!!

8. I can wear dresses again!  Granted, I could buy them before in my size, I was never comfortable wearing them. I thought I looked frumpy wearing them, and gigantic!  Now, they show off my figure, and I love it! I bought my first dress in 12 years the other day, and I plan on wearing it as often as possible!  Pics are in my profile :)

9. Losing this much weight has given me an unbelievable amount of confidence. I walk around with my head held up high now, not looking down at the ground.

10. And last, the most important thing the DS has done for me, is giving me a longer life with my children. Before I was literally a ticking time bomb. I did not have any co-morbidities before, but they were bound to happen before long. Today I can happily say that by having the DS, I have given myself a new life. A new life that will be around long enough to see my kids grow up, get married and have their own babies. I can't say that about before. And this, is what makes me happiest of all! :)
