After several, more like over fifteen, years of dieting and trying to get this weight off. I seriously started considering WLS about two years ago. I've gone to a couple of seminars and have spoken to many people that have gone through with WLS.

So, on July 31st I had my first visit with the surgeon, Dr. Kopmann. When I stepped on the scale in that office I almost fell over... 319 lbs!!! That's can't be right, so I asked to be weighed again on a different scale and low and behold it read 310 too... imagine that! The doctor was very welcoming and took her time to explain to me the WLS options available. She also spent quite a bit of time answering questions that my husband and I had.

I have my first appointment with the nutritionist on the 21st and am starting to schedule the rest of my appointments that I need to get done before going back to the pre-op nurse. I'm targeting January for surgery... I live about 1 1/2 hours from the hospital that I will use so I need to schedule as many appointments on the same day or spread them out a bit so I don't miss too much work before surgery.

I'm interested in hearing what others have experience, especially those that have used military facilities for their surgery's.
