So...I went to the doctor one day for something unrelated to weight, I can't even remember what it was now, though!  I normally don't go to the doctor unless I've been sick for more than a few days, so it was out of the normal for me.  Anyway, at the end of the appointment my doctor always prints out a 'symptoms' chart and on that chart it has all your ailments listed on it.  I read it and it said "obesity, insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian syndrome".  It also had my weight on it as well, I'm not sure what that weight was anymore, I'm sure it was somewhere close to my starting weight, of 278.  It was startling to see all my problems on paper.

I went home that night and started researching WLS again.  About 8 years prior to this I had started the process but didn't follow through.  I was 18, just about to go to college and wasn't ready.  This time I WAS ready.  I read everything I could.  I had scheduled an annual physical at my doctors office the last time I was there so I planned on asking her about it then.  That time came, I asked, she understood completely and thought it would be a great choice for me since I have always had trouble losing weight permanently.

So I had researched the best hospitals for RNY and to my surprise one of the highest rated WLS hospitals in the country was only 30 minutes away.  I made an appointment for the initial interest meeting and put everything in motion.  My first appointment with the actual office was on December 19th and on March 20th, 2013 I had surgery.  So far it has been the best decision I have ever made.
