Hi All

O.K. here is where I begin my journal. Today is Friday, August 4, 2006 and I will be 43 on Sunday! Happy Birthday to me! Actually I am not happy about my age (or my weight!), but I am happy that on Tuesday August 8, 2006 I will have my initial consult with Dr. Geiss and am so excited about it. I will update this after I see him.

I was not heavy all my life. I actually used to be wearing size 9-10 or 11-12 up until I was about 21. Gradually I started putting on small amounts of weight. Then I got married at 29, had my first child at 30 and this is really where my weight came on and then would not leave my body! At 33 I had my second child, but lost the weight from that pregnancy pretty rapidly. I was still heavy at that time though (but not as heavy as I am now). As the years went on, I little by little added more pounds and here is where I am now (288 lbs.)! It seems that the more I dwell on the weight I am gaining, the more I am eating. Isn't that sick? Well, I realize I have a problem and am determined to do something about it.

Sept. 3, 2006 - OK its been a month since I have written in this journal. Since last month I have had my psych evaluation, seen the cardiologist and had my upper G.I. done (boy was that exciting!). Next week I have my pulmonologist appt. and sleep apnea testing (i assume at the same time).

I am still eating like no tomorrow. I really dont eat alot at one sitting. My problem is that I eat alot of junk a little at a time all throughout the day! My wonderful husband knows and is with me on this surgery. The only other person that knows is my mom and she is very leary about it. (She is really leary about lots of things in this life!).
I explained that it is the most non-invasive of the surgeries and she feels better about it. Lets see what she has to say when I get close to surgery.!

September 13, 2006 - Had my pulmonologist appt. today. How much fun was that? I think I blew my brains out today! Thank God that is over with. I have to do that sleep apnea test this saturday the 16th. (I hope the bed is comfortable).

March 29, 2007 - My oh my has it been a while since I updated this page. Its been five months. Well, in the past five months I must have put on another 15 lbs. I don't even want to talk about it. The good news is that my surgery is on April 16, 2007. I just can't wait any longer. I hope that I do well.

August 28, 2007 - Wow I really need to update this page. All I ever do is surf the boards.
