1 year post surgery

Apr 07, 2011

Hi All!  I am almost one year out from surgery!  wow - that year flew by!!  Especially since I was surprised with a fourth pregnancy just five months out from surgery.  Well, I cant say its been easy since I have been extremely sick since pregnancy began; however, I can say I do NOT regret my surgery!!  It has been the best decision for me.  I said in the begining when asked why I was having surgery that to me it is a mechanical way of making me do what I need to do to get healthy.  And I still feel that way!  I love that I dont feel out of control with eating anymore and can actually see results from my efforts.  To date I have lost 121 pounds and Im sure after the baby comes in June that I will continue to loose towards my goal - 50 more pounds!! Yay!!

7 month post-op

Nov 27, 2010

Hi! Its been a long time....7 months later and 110 pounds lost....feels great; however, I discovered in October that I am pregnant with child #4.  Been very very sick since.  Was taking birth control pills, but apparently was not enough.  My husband and three other children are very excited.  I am 12 weeks pregnant now.   It is still so strange to see the changes my body has been going through these past 7 months.  I have had a hard time with the surgery regarding nausea.  Pretty much everything I eat makes me nauseated except for warm liquid foods.  But I dont regret having the surgery.  I am so so much healthier now than I was at 321#'s.

Post op - 1 month

May 18, 2010

Wow, I cant believe it has already been one month since surgery!!!  These four weeks have flown by!  I am down about 32 pounds! YAY! Still not getting in nearly enough liquids and feeling dehyrated on a daily basis!  Usually get protein in though, which is good, but Im afraid I will get kidney stones if I dont start getting the liquid in... It is just so hard for me to drink thin liquids for some reason.....My goal is also to begin working out.  I joined Curves and I have bought the Zumba workout DVD, plus I have a brand new all in one workout system (bought 5 years ago) that is brand new sitting in my bedroom needing to be used!  No more excuses!!!!

Post op Day #10

Apr 30, 2010

Wow it seems like its been longer than 10 days since surgery.  Ive done quite well, still experiencing problems with the diarrhea (hate to leave the house!) lol.....  So just wondering how others are feeling..  I feel mostly like my old self, everyone in my family thinks I am doing just TOO much!!  Im really not sure if I am or not, but with a husband, three young children, and a dog.... Life must go on.  Having a lot of problems drinking fluids... I find it hard to finish a bottle of anything!!!  nothing seems to taste good, and I have a very dry mouth, but not really wanting to drink...its crazy really.

Post op Day #5

Apr 24, 2010

Ok, trying to post again, cause I think I just lost the one I had started earlier.
Its day #5, going on my 3rd day home.  Woke up this morning feeling better and decided I needed to get out.  We drove 1/2 hour to my moms house and hung out with all the family....to make a long story short I did too much and ended up feeling very sick and weak, and sore...rounded my three kids back up and drove back home - took some lortab and chilling in my chair.  When should we feel good enough to drive and be active again?

Ok, so this is day 2 post-op.  My mouth is sooooo dry that I can hardly swallow or talk.  I am drinking water constantly and even sucking on sugar free mints.  What else can I do?

Well....yesterday i finally had my surgery!  Yay!!  It went smooth and I go good drugs.... because I was out of it most of the day.  Today was another story... My entire body feels as though a mac truck ran into me.  I hurt from my neck to my hamstrings! However, it was worth it and I am still excited about me decision to have RNY.

Fearful!

Apr 11, 2010

So, I am having fears that my surgeon might post-pone my surgery for not having lost "enough" weight prior to surgery.  I have not followed the diet exactly... however, I have made so many lifestyle changes and I have been doing mostly protein shakes here lately.  Has anyone ever been post-poned?
