Baylor Regional Medical Center of Plano

"I was very happy with my decision to have my WLS done at Baylor -- Plano. I was impressed by the facilities, and the staff was very kind and helpful. I was in a good deal of pain the night following my sleeve surgery, and the IV pain pump was not helping much. However, I began to feel better once they switched me to oral pain medication the following morning. One note: I did try to page a nurse by pressing the call button on my bed a few times, but didn't learn until the following morning that the nurse-call button was on a separate remote. The hospital has at least two Starbucks locations, which was very helpful for my wife as she stayed at the hospital with me overnight. The rooms are private, and have chairs that pull out for visitors to sleep on. Overall a positive experience, and I would recommend Baylor -- Plano for someone who is having WLS. "

Nick Nicholson

"I had researched WLS procedures and doctors for the past few years before deciding to go with Dr. Nick Nicholson (Nicholson Clinic, Plano, Texas). I am very happy I did. I actually met with Dr. Nick a year ago, but then wasn’t able to have surgery done. This year, when I met with him again for a pre-op office visit, he remembered who I was and what we had discussed the year before. Both visits with Dr. Nick were somewhat brief, but he did allow me to ask all of the questions I wanted. His office staff was able to speak with me further, and they remained available to me by phone or email. On my surgery day, Dr. Nick met with my wife and I before I was taken into the OR, explained to my wife what he was about to do, and made sure we didn’t have further questions. I was told the following day that my surgery went very well (a reminder that the pre-op diet is done for a reason). • I’ve been to Dr. Nick’s office a few times, and his office DID NOT have an “assembly line” feel to it. I had been to other offices when researching a doctor for this surgery, and some were so busy that they seemed to be trying to get as many people through as possible – not to discount their skills as doctors, just an observation as to how their offices felt.
