So things are going pretty well.  Once again I am at a stand still with the weight loss.  It has been 3-4 days now.  Just to find out that I got my period 10 days early.  UGH!  I know that with the PCOS and excess weight... hormones are stored in the fat.  Now that I am losing....My hormones are a bit messed up.  I am hoping that it levels out.  I do not want this twice a month.  There is something to be said about having your period twice a year.  Sicne I gave birth to my boys.... I have been like clockwork... every 28 to 30 days.... that is up to NOW!

Let's see how things go in the next few days and weeks.  I am hoping the weight will start coming off again in the next couple of days.  Also, if this a freaky thing this month or will be an on going thing.

So I had dinner with some college friends yesterday.  The girls new I had surgery.  The guys though... did not.  One of the guys came up to me and said "I looked great"..."did I lose weight?".  I wound up telling him about the surgery.  He was thrilled for me!

I was a great night!  43 pounds gone forever!  Only 5 more pounds and I am out of the 300's forever!!!!

I am back from Salt Lake City.  I weighed myself and I am down another 2 pounds... a total of 41 pounds!  Not too shabby for 6 weeks post-op.  I may have lost more... I have been constipated for the last 2 days.... I finally got relief later in the day.

I saw an old friend in Denver on the way back from Salt Lake City.  I had a 3 hour lay-over.  It was nice catching up with him.  Another friend who is happy I made this decision for myself!

Well I am on my first business trip since the surgery.  A week in Salt Lake City at a conference.  It has been going OK so far.  I requested a fridge in my room to keep some yogurt and cottage cheese in it.  My meals... well I am doing the best that I can.  Trying to stick to the program.

It has been difficult to find things to eat.  Luckily, I do not eat much :)  I do not know how I am doing since I have not weighed myself.  Don't plan to weigh in until Friday once I get home.

I want to post a sample menu of what I have eaten:
BFast:  Blueberries, Raspberries, and Strawberries <1/2c and a mini box of Special K
Snack:  Cheese Stick and 2 bites of a protein bar
   Lunch:  Chicken Salad
   Snack:  < 1/4c Cashews
Dinner:  Onion Soup broth, 2 Jumbo Shrimp, and green beans
   Snack:  4 Cheese Crisps

I have told several of my colleagues about my surgery.  They all were so supportive, loving, and caring towards me.  Some noticed a slight change but did not want to say anything.  But once I told them... the joy just emmulated out of them.  They were so happy I was doing this for myself and for my kids.  BTW... my kids are a hit at these conferences.  People are I think drawn to twins.

Tonight was a free night and I went out to dinner with two of my friends.  We went to a nice restaurant.  I had onion soup broth, a few onions and a tad of cheese slipped in.  No crouton though.  Then I ordered the Crab stuffed Jumbo shrimp.  The crab was good but too rich.... I left that alone and ate two jumbo shrimp and a some green beans for $29 smackeroos!  All I can say is that it was good but thank goodness it goes on the expense account.

I have booked myself a massage for tomorrow night after all the festivities.  I am looking forward to that.  Thursday, when I leave, I fly through Denver and I am going to see a dear friend of mine.  I have not seen him in at least 2 years.  I am excited about that too!

Otherwise, I will probably post again on Friday after I see how things went.  I just hope at the least I stayed the same.

Today I had two big WOW moments.  My first was getting dress this morning.  The dress pants that fit just right are now starting to hang off me.  I had to pin them up so I would not step on the legs.  I finally notice a change in my clothes.

My next WOW moment was while I was on Amtrak going on a business trip.  I was actually able to put the tray down in front of me and have a tad of room to spare.

Next week I am going on my first plane since the surgery.  It can't wait to see if I can put the tray table down or maybe... just maybe.... not use a seatbelt extender!  Wouldn't that be something!

Tonight, I went to my first support group at Northwestern.  I am so happy I went.  What a great bunch of people!  I am looking forward to some great relationships.

Today I went to see the doctor and the nutritionist.  The doctor is happy with my weight loss.  He gave me good advice.  Put away the scale and enjoy the ride.  Enjoy the changes in my body.  Enjoy how the clothes wear on me.  Why make myself nuts over every little pound.  I am going to put the scale away and weigh myself either once a week or once a month.  I haven't decided on that yet.

My nutritionist is happy with how I am eating.  She gave me some tips for eating while travelling.  I start travelling again next week for work.

Well... It has been a month since my surgery.  When I weighed myself this morning I was down 33 pounds!  Not too shabby for a month.  I am getting back to normal.  I am hoping that the weight loss continues at this rate.  I would love to be under 300# by the end of February.  To make this happen, I know I need to start exercising but haven't done too much of it yet.  I joined a health club but it has not openned yet.  I need to get on my Gazelle at least once a day to get my self motivated.

Food has been going down pretty good.  I have had a couple things get stuck.  The couple times have been because I have gotten distracted because I need to break something up happening with the kids.

I am eating soft foods.  I am looking forward to being able to cook a meal for the family and eat it together without problems.  I am pretty unmotivated with my food right now.  I have not been hungry but I know I need ot eat.  I want simple right now.

I have been getting my protein in and most of my water. I found the IDS New Whey 42gr Protein drink.  I wasn't very succesful with protein shakes.  Too thick and takes too long to drink one.  I also had some bad ones.  I had one that totally did not agree with me.  I got lightheaded.  Not a nice feeling at all.

I hope to post monthly pictures of myself to visually track my weight loss.  Great to be a LOSER!

What a way to start the new year... 25 pounds gone forever!

My family and I had dinner and exchanged gifts with dear family friends.  They were so accommodating to my needs. They were extremely supportive and excited for my weight loss.  I could not have asked for a better new year's eve.

Here is to a losing 2007!

Made it through Christmas without too many problems!  I was a bit emotional for part of the day but not too bad.

I had some turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, brussle sprouts, and gravy to help it all down. No problems.

Christmas was very enjoyable.  The kids had a great time opening gifts.  That is until I got to the in-laws house.  It was the typical thing.  The little snide remarks from the brother-in-laws made to one of the neices.  It got so bad it put me over the edge and I finally stood up for the niece since the mother could care less.  Now that my mother-in-law has passed away... no more biting my tongue!  I am speaking my mind... which I usually do anyway.  Sorry to get off topic but I needed to get a little bit off my chest.

On another note, my scale has not moved in over 5 days!  I am frustrated.  I read that there are stalls in weightloss but I should have figured that I would be the lucky one that stalls after one week!  That is just my luck.

I am going to start doing some sort of exercise.  I have been holding off since I do not want to risk additional hernias.  I already have a huge one from the c-section.  I have a Gazelle which I am going to pull out.  THe health club I joined will not be ready until late February or early March.  I am not into the whole walking thing yet since it is so cold in Chicago this time of year.

Anyway, I hope that will help kick my body into gear.

I saw the surgeon yesterday.  He said everything looks good.  All the steri-strips are off and the one stitch where the drain was has been removed.  The only problem I seem to have right now is that area where the drain was.... it might be a small hernia waiting to happen.  It is sore and sometimes hard.  Well, now I will have a matching pair of hernias if that is the case.

I also saw the nutritionist.  They want me to try to move to soft foods.  I don't think I am quite there yet.  I tried and I need it a bit softer still.  I will try again in a day or two.

When I was weighed in at both the nutrionist's and the surgeon's offices, both scales showed a 15 pound weight loss.  I was so surprised!  Granted it is probably a lot of water but it is 15 pounds that I will never see again!  I went home and saw that my scale matches the doctor's scale by a few ounces.

I am cleared to drive again by the surgeon.  I do not have to see him again for 3 months unless something comes up.

I see my doctor in January.  I will need to make an appointment with the nutritionist soon too!

So much to do and the holidays are just days away!

This is the best MERRY CHRISTMAS I could ask for!  I am so looking forward to spending a quiet evening at home with my kids and hubby on Christmas eve.  Christmas day we are at the in-laws... the entire family will be in this Christmas.  Much more caios Christmas day!

Merry Christmas!
