3 month post-op
Nov 13, 2009
Well, I went for my 3 month visit to Dr. Houston yesterday. I was told that I'm doing great. I've lost 34% of my weight so far and the expectation at 6 months out is 50%. So I'm ahead of schedule, which is great. I mentioned the severe cramps that I've been having since the surgery. He said it was rare but that he has seen it happen. My colon is having spasms and he gave me meds for it but he's not sure if it will do any good. He said that it should get better as my body heals from the surgery and that it could take up to a year for my bowels/colon to adapt to the new me. I just hope that the medicine he gave me helps out with this or I might as well just get used to it!
On another note, I had my labs drawn yesterday. Wow, they drew 9 vials of blood from me!!! I asked her why she didn't just hook up a bag! lol. Hopefully when I get the results next week they will be good. Also, I know others that are having difficulty with losing hair from lack of vitamins being absorbed. I'm using this shampoo, conditioner, and oil from Sally's beauty supply called nutri-ox for thining hair and some volumizing hair spray and it's working great so far! Just a little FYI for anyone needing the info.

Surgery

Wow, I can't believe I'm finally doing this!! I'm a little nervous and worried but I'm ready to get the show on the road.
Getting started!
May 05, 2009
The ladies I work with in the office are skeptical of such an extreme procedure to lose weight. But I explain what I've learned about the different surgeries and the facts I've learned about obesity and they are supporting me.
I'm starting to make more friends just from simply talking about the procedure.
I'm also currently doing weight watchers. At weight in today I lost another 2 lbs...yippie!
Seminar
Apr 29, 2009
I've made my decision to have surgery and I've chosen which surgery I would like to have (after doing a lot of research and then attending the seminar). I'm want to have the DS.
I'm already doing weight watchers and will continue to do that until surgery and then I will follow the diet they have for me afterward. I'm going to start exercising daily to help with the skin elasticity as well. I know I won't be able to do much at first but I'm going to put forth an effort to get some kind of exercise in daily. Wish me luck!
I'm very excited about this for the first time in my life. I've always been skeptical and scared of this kind of procedure but I have to say after attending the seminar, I feel much more at ease with my concerns.
Thanks for listening.....Lisa
Weight watcher
Apr 28, 2009
I started weight watchers on 3/24/09 weighing in at 272lbs. It's now 4/28/09 and I've lost a total of 6.4lbs. Not much but better than nothing at all. I have to remember that it's a little more than a 5lb bag of potatoes. It help me to see the weight as an object rather than a number.
I'm going to a weight loss surgery seminar in Nashville tonight. I think I really need the help. And once I'm able to have surgery to help me lose the weight and after all foods are introduced back then I will probably continue on with the weight watchers to aid me in losing weight unless the doctor recommends something else.
I have to say that I really like the weight watcher meals that I've cooked. The fat free, low fat, and sugar free foods taste better than what they used to. However, counting the points is a pain in the butt. But they help you to realize when to stop for the day.
