Been a really long time! I stopped my journey for a while but picked it back up again after repeated attempts to lose the weight and new health insurance.  I am at 280lbs on my small 5'3" frame.

Insurance has approved the surgery and now waiting for my date!  I cant wait and im terrified all at the same time.

 

YAY!!

 

 

I have my sleep study tonight.  Lets keep our fingers crossed that I flunk it!  If I dont, then it will be a fight with my insurance.  I cant understand why it is so much to ask to want to be healthy.  Insurance just doesnt get it.  I am tired, as usual, and really hoping for some answers.  Wish me luck!

I finally got my answer today.  I was denied.  They said I dont have any comorbitities.  I am scheduled for a sleep test.  Lets hope I flunk it.  If I dont, then there will be no surgery for me.  I dont know what I will do if I cant get it.  I guess I will sit here and wait for me to get diabetes and high blood pressure.  Such a great system we have!

So my stuff was sent to the insurance on May 2, 2007.  It was sent back requiring more information.  Apprently, when they faxed the stuff, the 2nd page of the pre approval form didnt come through.  Go figure!  So we finally get all that figured out, and re faxed it.  Now it has been pending for a week.  I know that isnt long....I call everyday to see if it has changed yet.  They must think I am soooo annoying at my insurance!  Then out of the blue I get a call from the sleep clinic telling me they need to set up a sleep study.  I thought, oh great, my insurance wants more comorbitities.  So we go ahead and look for an appointment, well to my DISADVANTAGE they are closing the sleep clinic until September when they open up at a new location.  The next available appointment isnt until October 15!!!  I take it, although really feeling depressed that I might have to go the entire summer not knowing if I will be approved for surgury or not.  So I call my clinic and ask if this  is thier requirment or the insurances.  As luck may have it, she is not entirely sure, but thinks it may be the clinic asking for it and not the insurance!  So I tell her about the appointment schedule and she said they will have to find another facility to try and get me to.  That is a rediculous amount of time to wait!  So, now just waiting for my clinic to call me back telling me they have another place to go!

Wow.  I am really on my way!  I met with the health/psych today for the last time before surgery.  She has signed off on me!!  I feel like after talking with the nut a few weeks ago, that I have come a LOOOONG way!  It sounds so stupid to think that someone has to explain hunger to you, but she did and it has done big things for me!  I have learned to pay attention to the hunger feelings before they get to the point of putting anything and everything in my mouth to feel better.  By doing that, I am able to better plan out what I want to eat.  I eat lots more salads now.  Plus I met with my PCP today and learned that I lost 5 pounds!!  Boy, I wonder what might have happened 10 yrs ago if someone would have explained the whole hunger thing to me??  Oh well, no looking back now. 

So now my next step is a phone call from the girls at the clinic to schedule my final appointments before surgery and the actual date itself!  I am SOOOOO excited! 

Just heard from the docs office today that i am APPROVED!!!!  I have an appointment with the nutritionist on Monday and then another appt at the end of the month!  YEAH!

Well, great news!  I had my psych consult and she thinks i am a good candidate!  Just waiting to hear from the surgeons after they have thier board meeting about potential candidates.   Cant wait for thier decision!

Well, it seems like yesterday since i started my 6 months of diet and exercise stuff, but I am already done!  Just talked to the clinic and we have scheduled my psych/health evaluation for March 12!!  I am finally on my way!  WOW!  Guess we will see how that goes.  Hopefully all will be well with it.  Emotions have been a struggle lately.  My mother in law passed away last weekend, and so the emotional eating has hit.  I think i have it all under control.  Wish me luck!

Happy New Year everyone!  It has been a while since I have been on OH.  Feels good to be back and getting motivated again.  I have just completed 5 of the 6 months of dr approved dietary and nutrition stuff.  Febuary 5 is my next appointment and then I can call teh surgeon and they will get all of my information together and send it to the insurance.  I am praying that it goes smoothly.  I want this more than anything!  Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

Life is finally finding a routine! Thank god! The kids are in school and we live 2 blocks from it, so we walk to and from everyday. That is great for me! Getting some excercise, at least. I am watching a few kids during the day, so they keep me busy. I am still trying to unpack the house. I am left with those few boxes that you never know what to do with. Maybe I should just throw it all out. Obviously I dont need them!
I saw my new PCP yesterday and it went very well. Except that I gained 10 pounds! I am up to 257!! She said I am definatly doing the right thing. She said we need to get the 6 months started and that this one counted twords that. I have set up my next 3 appointments. That is 4 in all....only 2 more to schedule!!!! My next appointment is October 11 and I will be getting a physical. She has me set up for blood tests, all kinds of them. Then at my next appt she will be setting up a home sleep test and start there. If that shows something, then I will go to the sleep study at the hospital. I felt so comfortable, she knew what she was doing and made me feel good about my decision. She has a lot of experience with getting patients referred for surgury and knows just how to document everything to get approved. She thinks I will not have any problems getting approved for surgery!!! AWESOME!
