Two more days!

Feb 27, 2008

I am on the downward count now!   This liquid diet has been pretty tough and I admit, I did cheat a couple of times at first, but I am now 100% with the plan.  I took a bite or two of protein things, and that helped me.  I have surgery planned at 9:30am on Friday.  So no matter what, I am ready for it.
I want to be on the losing bench and be able to look and feel better.  Ya'll say a prayer for me, I will be letting you know how it goes!!!

One week til surgery day!

Feb 22, 2008

I am in the midst of low carb protein shakes and clear liquids, and am really sick of it all, LOL!   I know it's for a really good reason, and I have to keep reminding myself of that.  After all, I certainly don't want complications that I could have prevented during my surgery.  This is just the beginning of a new life style that I will be following for the rest of my life.  SOOOOOO, I just take a deep breath, suck it up and keep on trucking.  I hope that my fussing does not discourage any of you all, keep the faith, friends!  This too shall pass, and the rewards will be SO worth it.  I wish all the best and please remember me in your prayers one week from now.

I am on the count down!!

Feb 14, 2008

Well, I certainly hope everybody had a good valentines day!  I had gone for my pre op visit on the 13th, and it was a pretty long day.  At 830 I had to be at Dr. Cook's office and sign papers, get some vital signs done, see the Nurse Practitioner briefly and then pay money..and then off to the Nutritionist class.
Becky is my NUT and she is so nice.  (Isn't if funny how all nutritionists are a size 2 and look as if they have never had a weight problem in their lives????)   And I had lost 9 pounds making my official pre op weight 336 which made my BMI 49.9 or so, and anyways, I fell in the range that my insurance carrier requires!!!  Talk about happy!   My hubby was so proud of me.
Pre op consisted of EKG, labwork, including an arterial blood gas, urinalysis and a chest xray.  I talked to my anesthesiologist who was a very nice lady doctor, and the rest is history.  I am 2 weeks out from my surgery, and am
nervous and excited and happy all at the same time!

I HAVE A DATE!!!!!!

Jan 30, 2008

Well, after a long day at the Drs. office, I came away with a date for my lap band surgery.... it will be on February 29th!!!  WOOO HOOO!!!  Guess that means my anniversary date will only come every 4 years!  Lisa from Dr.
Cook's office will be calling me tomorrow with my pre op date, and other details.  Good luck to all, and to all a good night!  Soon, I will be on the losing bench with my peers.

I have tried very hard, and am about 8 lbs away from my goal of 340 so I can have a bmi of 50...and my insurance will pay for my lapband.  I am staying home from work tonight, resting and cleansing, and hopefully tomorrow will be a lighter day!
hugs all around... will let yall know tomorrow the news!

I have an appt for my H & P!

Jan 23, 2008

Next week on the 30th of January, I will be going down to Hickory NC to see Dr. Leland Cook and have my history and physical done!  I was very surprised to get a call from Lisa, their insurance coordinator, about 3 days after she got my paperwork.  I had been told it would probably take 2 weeks.
My BMI is about 52 at this time.  She informed me that it has to be 50 or less to get the lapband, or my insurance won't pay.  SOOOOO........I am on a crash diet trying to get down to about 338 or so.  Ya'll keep me in your prayers, next week, its going to be a tough one.  (About 17 lbs to loose)
Well, thats it for now.  God bless everyone.

Happy New Year to All!

Jan 01, 2008

Well, well, here it is 2008 and it looks like this is going to be a banner year for alot of us!  I found out my doctor FINALLY faxed a copy of my letter of need to the weight loss center, but nothing else!  So I took my butt over there day before yesterday and picked up what I need, and in the morning I will be hand delivering my paperwork to the Hickory Bariatric Center.  I am seeking the lap band, and hopefully all will go well.  I was down to 353 before christmas, but I gained some weight.  I will find out tomorrow just how much damage I did!  But, I did have a bout of the painful gout, and couldn't ride my exercise bike, so that didnt help at all.  I rode it for the last 3 days and I can tell a difference already.  So ya'll, wish me luck and best of luck to everyone out there.  Take care and God bless!  Talk soon!!

Wow, how time flies!

Dec 02, 2007

I finished my psych eval, and hey, good news! The doc said i WASNT crazy after all!  I am waiting for my primary physician to write the letter and send it in to the insurance girl at Dr. Cook's office.  When she gets it, and submits all the info to the Insurance co, they will either approve or dissapprove, and then I will get my appointment for my history and physical with Dr. Cook.
After that, it's the "wait and see" list for me.  I have to wait for my appointment, which will be probably after the first of the year.  In the meanwhile, I have been busy visualizing my portions, eating off a smaller plate, with a smaller spoon, and trying to loose as much weight as possible.  I am riding my exercise bike every day, hoping for 6 miles, but sometimes as little as 3, sometimes as much as 12 (but only in two 30 minute sessions during the day, spaced apart).  WEll thats all for now, hope all had a great Thanksgiving, and hope all will have a WONDERFUL Christmas.!! Good luck and God bless to all!

Hi friends, well I have already had my first psychologist visit, and now I have to go back on the 19th to "test", haha!  I guess they want to make sure I am not going to flip out on them when somebody tells me I can't eat something, but guess what, I been hearing that junk all my life, and am pretty  used to it.  The lap band will help me because I will KNOW that I can't eat any more than a tiny bit, and what will happen if I DO over eat!  I am going to be so happy when I have it in place and start the real journey, I have tried to lose weight for so long, only to regain, regain.  This is going to really  help me alot.  I have my first appointment on Wednesday with the people at Frye Regional Medical Center for a weight loss class that will be much smaller than the group at the seminar.  Can't wait.  This will surely give me some insight on how long I will have to wait.  I am sure it will be 2008 before I have my surgery.  For me, it cant come soon enough.   Well best wishes to all out there who are on this website and good luck to all!

update

Oct 24, 2007

Well, here it is 3 years later and I still haven't had the surgery yet.  Now I am doing something about it for sure.  I have a new supportive husband who loves me all the way, fat or thin, and he will be my rock when I go through my surgery.  My main problem is that I am already anemic, and deciding which surgery to do is hard.  Dr. Cook knows of my anemia, and my delima about the lap band vs roux-en-y.  I am just in the beginning stages of this adventure, and will let you all know more as I know.  I have my appointment for my psych eval, my appointment for my first meeting with the good people at Frye Regional Medical Center WEight loss program, and from there, the next meeting will be with Dr. Cook.  Tomorrow I go to my private doctor, and get her to write the letter and fax all of my records to the people at Frye.  Just taking it one step at at time, but it is so exciting.  Pray for me, you all.  I need all the help I can get.
Hugs all around.
