Scary L.
 July 14 2004 I went for a consult and was pleased with what I heard and I will proceed with the process. While I was in the group consultation I heard a woman who was there with her husband say " he is as small as me and he is going to have this done". I kind of felt bad when I heard that due to I am not as large as the other people that were in the group. Infact I was the smallest person there including the woman who said that. but, with my back injury the back surgeon said that I was too heavy to operate on and I had to do something to get my weight down. So, here I am. My BMI is 44.1  July 21st 2004 I sent my first letter in on the 20th and I was approved in 24 hours. Can you believe that Here is the story: I have bcbs ppo and before sending my paperwok in I called1-800-533-1120 prompts 2-5-4-4-1 and had the csr do what she had to do in the computer. Start you per cert. file. Then I hung up and called back using the following prompts 2-5-4-4-2 and spoke with the RN and ask what they would need from my DR. I had what they needed and I asked for their fax # and she gave it to me and called me back to let me know they got it. They called me back the next day (today 7-21-04) and told me that I was approved and would mail me my letter. Please let me know if this works for anyone else [email protected]  8/02/04 I got the call today and my surgery date was given to me. It is 9/9/04. I know this might sound wierd but I don't like it when double numbers are used. (9/9) but I really don't like 11,22,33.  8/14/04 Nothing going on here. I have been reading alot of posts on the message boards. There sure are alot of funny people on this site. Just waiting to become a loser. It all started years ago but I will get over it. 8/19/04 I received a call saying they found a spot on my lungs. Now I have to have a cat scan so they know what it is. I am scheduled for it tomarrow. update: They now say it is a scar from an earlier illness. THANK GOD!  8/26/04 I got the call and they told me they were still going to do the surgery, but that I needed to have another cat scan in 3 months. It was not scar tissue. 9/11/04 I have arrived home after surgery. I was very sore the first day and then got alot better after that. I was released 30 hrs after surgery. Wow, I can't believe I just typed I was post-op. 9-13-04 Well today is the day that I start feeling sick to my stomach. I woke up not feeling 100%, but I will get better. I go tomarrow and get my tube out. I'm not looking forward to that. I will update again later. 9/14/04 I went and had my tube taken out today. That sure was one of the weirdest feelings I have ever felt. I am glad there was no pain to it. I lost 4 lbs since surgery, it is a start. 9/30/04 Hello to all, I have been doing great with this tool. I have lost between 25 and 30 lbs. you know how scales differ. The doctor had me on a liquid diet for six weeks but, I had some chili without beans and it went down fine and stayed down. I know that not all pouches can handle that so watch yourself if going to solids quicker than recommended by your program. I was in the hospital and they gave me a cup of ice chips and they told me that I could have one of those cups an hour. But it was corrected yesterday to one ounce an hour. So please ask alot of questions when you are getting ready for surgery. I will see you again. 10/18/04 I go for my six week follow up tomarrow and by my scale I have lost 41 lbs. I will see how much their scale says I losted. 10/19/04 I have lost 35 lbs by the Dr's scale. At least I know what to add to mine when I weigh. 11/9/04 It has been a very fast two months since my surgery. I have lost 50 pounds and feel alot better. The Terre Haute tribune is printing the story about my surgery sometime this month. I will try to keep you up to date. 12/2/04 Almost another month has gone by and I feel great. I have lost 62 lb, I just wish I could lose it in my belly like I am losing in my arms and legs. I have found another job working 3 days aweek since my Back doctor told me I couldn't go back to lifting what I was lifting. It is not too bad of a job. 12/19/04 Not much going on here. I think I have found a new place to live. I am going through a divorce and have been looking for a place to live for a couple of months. I think I am going to move back to were I was living before I got married. It is right on the edge of town on two acres. It has the country feel with being close to town. It is a rental for now. My daughter wants me to buy the house down the street from where we live now but I don't want to live that close to the ex. I am down 68 lbs since surgery. I feel Great! 2/2/05 Sorry for not being around. I have moved and am going through the divorce. I have lost 92.5 since 9/9/04 and i feel great. 3/7/05 I have lost 122 lbs 6/14/05 I have lost 130 lbs and I sure love the new me. I am starting a new life with the divorce and my weight loss. |
