6 months post op and Down 111lbs!!

Aug 26, 2010

It's been a while since i been on here so I have some catching up to do.  Today is my 6 month aniversary post op and I have lost 111lbs from 285 to 174.  Not bad for 6 months.  I feel great.  I had some stricture problems but everything got taken care of and I couldn't feel any better. I love being able to buy clothes anywhere.  I got sentimental the other day when i took my babies to the park and I was actually able to take my daughter down the slide on my lap...I could actually fit on the slide =) It was a wonderful feeling.  I hope all my friends are doing well and everyone is doing good with their weight loss.  Until next time my friends. I posted a new pic taken the other day but when i get a chance I will post full body pics..Lydia

Home from having surgery

Feb 28, 2010

Hello all my friends.  I am finally home from having surgery.  There is no place like home!  Surgery went well and I feel good.  I ended up going in for surgery about 11:30am.  Last I remember I was laying in the surgery room and switching from my bed to the surgery table.  after that I was out.  I woke up later in recovery and made it to my room around 4pm.  I was very tired after surgery.  Dr. Boone told my husband everything went smooth.    My blood sugar level went up to around 300 after surgery and it took about 1 day and a half for it to go down, not because any sugar I had but from a reaction from the surgery.  It also took the anesthesia a while to wear off of me.  I pretty much was out of it and slept till Saturday 2/27 till about 4 pm when I felt like i was awake and myself again.  Because of this and with me sleeping SO much, I was not able to sip and eat like the doctors would have liked to see me do so they kept me in an extra night which was fine, i felt like i needed the extra night.  Walking definitely helps!!! and taking deep breaths whenever you get you can will help also.  Dr. Boone was great and all the nurses at Fresno Heart and Surgical were awesome.  The hospital was very nice.  On the way home we stopped at the grocery store and i felt good walking around.  I was looking for these sugar free banana Popsicles they had at the hospital but the grocery store didn't have them  oh-well i got some other flavors.  Anyhow I feel better than I thought and I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight.  Thanks everyone for your support.  I didn't read most of my messages until now.  everyone on here has been very supportive and I'm so glad this site exist!  until next time...my post-op appt. is on wed 3/3/10...I'll let everyone know how that goes! xoxo

My Surgery is tomorrow!!

Feb 25, 2010

I had my pre-op appointment yesterday 2/24 in Fresno with Dr. Boone.  He was very pleasant and answered all my questions very thoroughly.  The nurse weighed me and My pre-op weight ( I'm 5'7") is 285!!!! I can't wait to see that go down .  After my pre-op appointment, I went over to the hospital to pre-register.  Everyone there was very friendly.  I had to go to the bathroom really bad when i got there and went as soon as I walked in the building only to have the hurse 5 minutes later tell me that I had to urinate in one of their little cups lol.  She went over the procedures and what will happen while I kept drinking water.  Luckily i was able to accomplish using that little cup for what its for before i left the hospital.  Ive been drinking liquids all day and I haven't really been hungry at all.  I think me being a little nervous is also taking away my appetite.  I have to be at the hospital at 8:30 and my surgery is scheduled at 10:30 if all goes well.  I'll keep everyone updated when I get out!! thanks to all my friends on here, everyone is such good support.  Thank you

Surgery date scheduled 2/26/10

Feb 03, 2010

I must say today was a good day.  My surgeons office called me and we set up a surgery date of 2/26/10.  At first she said they had an opening next week but that is too soon for me, I wanted to give my employer a little more notice.   I am soo excited and kind of nervous.  After i had a set date for surgery, I must say I got  a feeling of being more nervous than ever before so far in my journey.  I am soo excited and look forward to soo much after weight loss!  I have to be at the Fresno surgical hospital at 7:30 and my surgery is going to be around 9:30am.  I am having the RNY byspass and Dr. boone will probably fix a hernia that I have also.  With my insurance (Anthom Blue Cross PPO) I am also very pleased that I only have to pay $600.00 and they were even willing to take payments on that, not bad at all!

Sweeeet! I'm officialy Insurance approved!

Jan 26, 2010

So today my insurance company called me while I was at work and gave me the good news.  They approved my RNY surgery with Dr. Boone.  My insurance (Anthem blue cross PPO) received the pre-authorization request on 1/21/10 and approved it today...so that was only about 4 business days....not bad at all!! faster than I expected.  I'm sooo excited to move forward with this.  Dr. Boone's office probably hasn't received the letter yet but I think I'm going to call tomorrow and get an idea how far out his surgeries are scheduled.   I'm so glad to be at this stage in my journey.  Hearing this news really made my day!

Finally everything is submitted!

Jan 14, 2010

Finally all my labs, procedures, consults etc. are done and after about three weeks of trying to get everything forwarded do dr. boone's office, today i called and they confimed they have everything.  My intake coordinator said my pre-authorization to my insurance (anthem blue cross) should have been submitted today or possibly tomorrow 1/15/10.  That reminds me, 1/15/10....My beautiful daughter is turning one tomorrow.  It kind of makes me sad knowing she is my last baby but i know many good times are to come. Happy 1st b-day my Lilliana Alexis!  Hopefully everything goes smoothly from this point on.  Now I just wait to here from Dr. Boone's office!

Endoscopy

Dec 22, 2009

Today I went to my Endoscopy appt.  After the procedure I learned that I have acid reflux disease, a hiatal Hernia , duodenitis and multiple antral erosions.  I did have to research some of these because i really didn't know what exactly they were.  I was a little dissappointed in this procedure because I did not see the doctor at all beore or after.  I guess he came in when i was already knocked out and was gone before I woke up.  After recovery I met with my husband in the lobby and when we got to the car he gave me a report of my endoscopy.  Not knowing really much about these things i have been diagnosed with...I think the nurse or doctor should have explained them to me or asked if i had questions.  Anything would have been better than nothing.  Instead the nurse sent me on my way and said to make an appt. with the Doctor in about 2 weeks when the biopsy results come in.  This will be last task to do before being able to submit a pre-authorization to my insurance.  Hopefully everything turns out ok!!
