My story.......well, I'm 39 years old married with 4 kid and as of today 234 lbs. I have been overweight just about all of my life. Throughout my school years and through high school my weight problem wasn't too bad. I maintained a decent weight until I had my first child in 1994 in which I put on 75 lbs during the pregnancy. Being a single parent and attending college in the evening was very stressful. Food was my coping mechanism. It helped me through the rough times, the good times, and the in between times. In many ways food became my best friend and companion. Unfortunately it still is today, and that is something I am now trying to change. It is difficult to say goodbye to a best friend but I want to live to see my children grow up and to be able to grow old with my husband. That is why I finally made the decision to persue the lap band procedure. I attended a seminar in March and after hearing about the procedure and listing to "real" bandsters speak, I was sold. I have completed the pre-requisites (nut/psy eval, END, lab work). Will keep you posted on my Journey.
