"I had my Lap RNY surgery on 2/25/2004 with Dr. Ben-Meir (at the Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery, St. Vincent Charity Hospital), and I was extremely impressed with Dr. Ben-Meir's skill and compassion. He continually communicated with my family before and after surgery, and would check on my status every day after surgery personally. He is fantastic, and I will be forever grateful to him for giving me a second chance at life.
When I initially met Dr. Ben-Meir, he had had an extremely busy day (I was the last appointment on a Friday evening), but he gave me his undivided attention. He was insightful, inquisitive, and --dare I say it? -- funny. I felt as if he genuinely cared about my health. Now that I've had my surgery, I know that he definitely cares about his patients.
Before selecting Dr. Ben-Meir as my surgeon, I had met with other bariatric surgeons (at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Columbus), and I felt as if I was just "a number," or a patient on an assembly line. With Dr. Ben-Meir, however, I felt like I was treated respectfully and as an individual.
