Alright....it's officially day number four. Honestly haven't felt like getting on here and posting until now. This VSG has NOT been a walk in the park for me. I have had alot of post op nausea and some vomiting and it has been hard for me to push my fluids. I had started with a terrible headache yesterday around noon that got really bad last evening prompting me to call my surgeon. After talking to Dr. McDaniel about my raging headache, he reassured me that it was just too soon to be a dehydration headache and advised me that it was most likely a combination of post op stresses: no caffeine, anesthesia side effects, huge change in my diet and worry STRESS! So he suggested to me to stop the madness, take some tylenol and hit the sack and get some sleep. So I did and I woke up feeling pretty good this morning even though that headache is still lurking around. I was able to get in a popsicle early this AM and then later about 4 oz of Carnation Instant Breakfast in about 30 minutes this morning and have since moved on to sip, sip, sip....Physically, my incision sites are doing well. They are somewhat bruised and swollen and so is my belly. Internally, my little pouch sounds like a little toilet "flushing" when it's processing fluids I have taken in. Because of the previous N/V and the surgery in general my pouch is inflamed and its taking a while to get the fluids worked through. My surgeon and his PA, Ron have been very supportive thus far and I know they are only a phone call away if I should need anything. Every day seems to be somewhat easier.
All in all, this has not been so easy for me. Basically I have felt tired, weak, uncomfortable and unsettled since arriving home from the hospital. I need to quit worring so much about what is going on inside and divert my attention to other things.
I do, however, continue to put my faith in the good Lord above because with Him ALL things are possible.
