Recovering well!!

Jan 11, 2010

My RNY surgery was Thursday the 7th and I got home on Saturday the 9th.  The surgery went perfectly with no complications and the whole time I was in the hospital I was told over and over that I was the perfect patient.  LOL.  It was just because I really had no pain and no complaints.  I even took a quick shower as soon as I was put in my room after the surgery.  They were a little stunned that I felt up to it, but I felt so gross after surgery that I just wanted to be clean.

Anyways, I was sent home off of ALL of my diabetic medications which was my main goal in having the surgery.  Now the bonus of weight loss can begin!  I still have my drain tube in and it will be removed this Friday the 15th.  I'm also still on clear liquids until Friday, then I can start on full liquids.  Everyone thinks it's crazy and don't know how I'm doing it with not eating, but after being on liquids for 11 days now, it's really not a big deal anymore, I just fill up with fluids.  Speaking of, I'm having no trouble getting in all of my fluids either.  Yesterday my total fluids was 68 oz.  And today it's going just as smoothly.

So to put it simply, things are going much more smoothly than I had anticipated.  If your surgery is coming up, please believe me when I say, you have nothing to be worried about.  It will be over before you know what happened, and just listen and do exactly what the doctors and nurses tell you and you're going to do perfectly!!!
