well today is exactly 6 months from the day i had rny surgery. the day of surgery i weighed 240 and was wearing a size 18. today i weigh 154 and wear a size 4 and small shirts. i can't believe how far i come. i definately have slowed down in weight loss, but that is ok because i know i am nearing the last few pounds and it gets harder and harder the less you need to lose. i still would like to get down to at least 130. i am a little scared just hearing about how many people regain weight. but, i feel i have made changes that are life long. i still haven't had any refined carbs. i have not tasted bread, cake, cookies, pasta, etc.... the only carbs i eat on occasion are potatoes and veggies. i think once i hit my goal i might introduce low carb tortillas and things like that, but for now i just want to get to my goal as quickly as possible. i want to take advantage of this rapid weight loss time.

i made it home on friday july 27th, and was feeling good except for occasional dizziness. i have been able to get down crystal light, sf popsicles, and my protein drink. i mix my 2 scoops of chocolate pro complex with 8 ounces of water and a drop of peppermint extract. i am now able to get that down throughout the morning, and be done by the time i put my kids (and myself!) down for a nap. i had my post op yesterday and everything looks good. dr. tanaka said that i could start soft foods next week. i am looking forward to some new flavor, but i am nervous to have anything beyond liquids. my energy level is actually higher than it was pre op. i have more motivation to clean and play with my kids. i am even cooking dinner for the family. even though i can't eat i have made them dinner since we got home. i am so glad i did this for myself and i can't wait to get to goal! i do have to say that the one thing besides nausea that has been bothering me is the fact that i don't feel like i really have a pouch. i can tell i can't drink a ton of liquid, and i burp a lot. but, i have not gotten a sensation in my pouch of fullness. i hope that changes once i start eating solids!

pacbar called me this afternoon with a date. i will be having my surgery at 10:30 am on july 24th. less than 2 weeks away!!! i am so excited, yet really nervous at the same time! so that means it was 22 days from the day of my pre op to them calling me. i will have my surgery 36 days after my pre op consult, and only 26 days after i completed options. i can't wait!!!!

i finally called pacbar and got the somewhat good news that all of the transcripts are in. my file is on dr. tanaka's desk and should be reviewed this week. they said that if i had not heard from them by friday, to call. i am keeping my fingers crossed that there will still be a date available for me in july, but i will take august too. i just can't wait! i will update next time HOPEFULLY with a date!!!

ok so i gave in and called pacbar today because i could not wait any more. so as of now, she said that they still do not have all of my dictations in!! i am gonna go crazy!!!!!!!!!!

well i called pacbar again this morning and luckily got someone besides mayla. i think i am starting to bug her. so there is still nothing, as in my dictation is not even in from the other appointments. the woman told me that i should call back next wednesday, but that is the 4th of july. i will probably call thursday if i still have not heard from them by then!
on another note, last night was my final options class and it was bittersweet. i am so glad to have it done with and i am ready to get my surgery. however, i am hoping i don't slack off and not continue losing because i no longer have to weigh in and turn in food diaries. for anyone that reads this and is dreading a 6 month diet, or options....it really is helpful and it goes by so much faster than you could ever imagine. oh yeah...my final weight was 242, so i lost another pound. i am hoping to get down to 230 by my surgery, but i am not holding my breathe on that one. if they schedule me for the end of july then i probably can't lose that much by then. i will update again when i get some news!

well today is wednesday the 27th of june, 2007. i called dr. tanaka's office yesterday morning and spoke to my case manager mayla. she said that as of then there was still no dictation in. she said that once that is in i  have to wait for the doc to review and give final approval. she said to call back friday to check again, otherwise wait until they call me. i hate waiting! it has been a week since my pre op consult as of today, and i know that i would be asking a lot to have already gotten everything approved, but it seems like a lot of people on here have gotten final approval by now. so i guess i will just wait some more. i am just praying that i get a call before friday. 

in other news, i am probably have gained weight this week, and tomorrow is my last options class. i have been eating stuff like pizza and pasta, and i haven't been very good about drinking my protein supplement. i am getting really sick of it now, and the thought of it makes me queezy. i hope i get over this soon cuz when i have my surgery i will be having a lot of these shakes! oh well.....i will write again when i have heard from pacbar, or when i call on friday!

well i went to my pre op consult on wednesday and everything went great. dr. tanaka was very nice, at first though he was very serious. after talking and asking questions he was smiling and friendly. dr. margolis was my psych and she was nice as well. some people had said she was not very friendly, but she was to me. last stop was the internist dr. kingsbury's office. that was like a 10 or 15 minute total appt. i was in and out very quickly. for each appt. i was super early, and they all took me in early. i was able to beat the traffic and be on the road at 1:45, which was when my final appt. was supposed to be. i called mayla from pac bar yesterday to let her know that i have a small window of time that i am able to get a babysitter for my kids, but she said that there were very few spots left in july and they were into august. i am just hoping that they will call me soon and say that they have a day for me!!! i really need to get in between july 23rd and august 20th.  mayla said to call her back next wednesday, so hopefully there will be progress by then! i will update once i have found out what is up.

well i thought today might be a good day to update my profile. today i called pacific bariatrics and got my pre op consult for tomorrow. i am really excited, but also super nervous. i am nervous about the psych evaluation because a lot of people on here have said that this particular psychologist was not good. oh well i will just have to go and be myself, and hope that she approves me. i will update tomorrow on how it went.
