I began my journey September 29, 2010 and cannot believe that I will be having gastric bypass done on Tuesday, May 10, 2011!! It seemed like this day would never come and now it is here. I initially told only my household family members and just recently when I received surgery date and approval letter from my insurance company, I have told my immediate family and some close friends. I think once I have the surgery I will be more willing to share. I must admit, I was afraid of the reaction I would receive, and I am so happy that everyone has been supportive and encouraging ! I am so glad that I have told them, I will feel much better going into surgery now. Still havent told the entire family, but that time will come when its right. I have lost 47 1/2 pounds on my own so far and am committed to my new lifestyle. I think the program at CMC is outstanding and I appreciate the hoops I needed to jump through for this day to arrive. Everything I have learned has been helpful and I am confident the lifestyle changes I have made are here to stay. I have a sense of calm and am ready to go !
