Carilion Memorial

"My hospital stay was made as pleasant as possible by the hospital staff. I had an aide one day that was less than competent, but all the other staff members made up for that. I only have 2 real complaints. I had to wear the same soiled gown during my stay because they couldn't find any other large ones. Then when it came time for me to go home someone I'd never seen before came to get me with a wheelchair so small that I could barely get in it. She didn't attempt to help me, only said that she couldn't find a bigger one."

Tananchai Lucktong

"During my initial consultation with Dr. Lucktong, I found him to be a very caring individual who wants his patients to understand every aspect of the surgical procedure, including possible complications and risks. I was shown a video, which I found to be very informative. Dr. Lucktong made me feel like he had all the time in the world to talk to me, even though I knew he was running behind schedule. He even apologized for keeping me waiting. He stressed the importance of the surgery being a "tool" not a quick fix and stressed the seriousness of the decision to have surgery. He has a structured aftercare program, which includes yearly visits for life. He and his staff were extremely helpful and friendly. His nurse, Becky, made me feel that she really cares about what I'm going through and is excited about the changes that will be taking place in my life. While bedside manner is important, I feel that surgical competence is most important if you can't have both. I am very confident in Dr. Lucktong's surgical abilities and I feel that he will also have a good bedside manner. At this point (waiting for approval)I would highly recommend Dr. Lucktong to anyone who is looking for a weight loss surgeon in the Roanoke/Southwest Virginia area."
