It's been 6 years and with the help from God and my family's support, I've been able to maintain my 180lbs weight loss!  No turning back!  So proud of myself!

2 years and counting

May 18, 2012

Hello, I haven't been on this site for a long time but decided that I needed to get back to basics and reconnect with the site that gave me encouragement and support when I first started my weight loss journey.
It's been 2 years since my surgery and I've lost 155 lbs!  I have maintained my weight loss but I have about 20 more stubborn pounds to go.
It's crazy but I'm sure a lot of you will understand what I'm about to say.  I look and feel great but sometimes I still feel like the old me.  Shopping for clothes is a tremendous challenge for me because I get overwhelmed because I don't know what size I am.  My body has changed so much.  I'm so used to bigger, baggier clothes that when I buy clothes that fit, I feel exposed and uncomfortable.
I know it's a mind thing that I need to get over and I will, but all my adulthood, I've been obese and now people use terms like "tiny", "small" and "skinny" and it's like "who me?' lol
Here's a before and after pic

4 days Post-op

Feb 18, 2010

Well, I'm 4 days post-op and I feel pretty good. My JP drain opening has finally stopped leaking...Yay!  Today is the first day that I am home with my 2 year old daughter and things are going very well.  She is really a good girl so I don't have too much stress in that area.  I got her a step stool so she can climb on my bed when I change her and get her dressed so I don't have strain.  My ex-hubby and mom have been coming over in the evening to give her a bath because by the end of the day, I'm a little sore and the less bending the better.
I'm still having trouble getting comfortable at night to go to sleep but if that's my only inconvenience, then I'll take it!
All in all, everything is ok. Very happy with this decision and excited to start my new life!

Good News and Bad News

Nov 19, 2009

I'm new to this site so this is my first entry.

Just came from my GI/PCP appointment.  This was my last appointment for medical clearance before my surgery date would be definitely scheduled.

The good news is that my EKG, Chest X-ray, Endoscopy, Sleep Study are all normal but the bad news is that my hemoglobin level is very low.  I've been on iron supplements but haven't been taking them 3 times a day because of the "side effect" but if I don't get my act together and take them religiously, I won't be able to have my surgery!  That is NOT an option.  I've come too far to let this obstacle get in the way.

So, for now on iron pills 3 times a day no matter what the effects are! Yikes
