7 weeks out 54 lbs down

May 08, 2009

It has been 7 weeks since my WLS and I have lost a total of 54 lbs. I've been doing well, I need to get better at drinking more water but I am drinking more than what I was previously. I had blood work done to see where I was as far as protein, vitamins, etc., and all was good. My Iron levels were a little low so I have increased my iron intake but other than that everything else was good. I was surprised because I thought my protein level would be lower  Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was doing very good with my blood pressure for weeks after my surgery and was taken off of my blood pressure medication, but now my pressure has gone up again and my Dr. put me back on the medication. It's strange because I'm losing weight, eating healthier, exercising, and eating lower sodium foods, I guess it is hereditary, because several of my family members have high blood pressure and they are not overweight. I will just continue to eat better and exercise maybe as I continue to lose it may become lower again.

Almost 2 weeks out

Mar 19, 2009

It has been almost 2 weeks since wls, I feel pretty much like I'm back to normal. I started walking 2 miles at the park near my home yesterday and today. I started full liquids today and had Cuban black bean soup. It was creamy and smooth and easy to swallow. What confuses me is why does the cream soup, jello, pudding, and protein shakes go down easily but water is still a little harder to swallow???? I take small sips at a time but still a little difficult, I guess it's because I'm use to taking big gulps. I'm getting better with the protein shakes. Oh yea and I'm now down to 249lbs that's 12lbs in 11-days.

I'm Home March 10th

Mar 10, 2009

Hello to all my OH friends. I am now home and resting. I totally did not expect to be home this soon and I am feeling Great. I am a little sore but I'm able to walk around and sit up. Wow not hungry at all, GOD is sooooooo good. Thank you JESUS!!!!!!! My stay in the hospital was wonderful, the nurses took good care of me. There were no complications at all. I had my gallbladder removed with the bypass, so my Dr. was able to kill two birds with one stone. Feeling great!!!! I'll keep you updated as I start losing.

I went to the Surgical Specialist of Louisiana My surgeon is Dr. Thomas Lavin, I'm told he is the best for bariatric surgery.  I'm hoping to get final approval from my insurance company soon.  I did receive pre-approval providing I submit the following:
