My name is Mari, I am 41 years old. I am a happily married mother of 3 great sons and have 1 grandson. I have battled with being overweight all of my life and after many bouts of depression and being unhappy with what I saw in the mirror, I have decided to take back control of my life and be the woman that I know I can be.
I have many medical conditions that have lead me down this road which are, Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease and PCOS. I take about 6 pills per day and an injection, I spend about $90.00 per month on prescriptions alone. I know many people that have had the gastric bypass surgery, some have had a very rough time with it and some have had it easier but in the end it comes down to them wanting a better life for themselves.
I am interested in having the vertical sleeve, I was looking into having the Lap Band but after further research I found that the vertical sleeve is more of what I am looking for. I do not want to have this surgery because I wanna look like Beyonce or a "skinny" model. I want to have this surgery because I want to be able to keep up with my 6 year old son or my 1 year old grandson without passing out of shortness of breath, I want to have this surgery because I don't want to have to take 6 pills every day, I don't want to have to prick my fingers 4 times a day for the rest of my life, I want to be able to look in the mirror and LOVE what I see instead of crying because I'm tired of who's looking back. I love my kids and I love life and I want to be on this earth for as long as I can possibly can.
