 So, I have made up my mind!  I have chosen Dr. Laura Machado as my surgeon and find her to be very helpful to my quest for a healthier life.  So far, I have completed my initial consult which was a breeze but slightly expensive with my insurance.  Last week, I finished my second appointment which consisted of my group diet meeting, and a psych evaluation.  As of October 14th, will have completed my final appointment before we can schedule the surgery.  I still have to get my labs drawn and have a pre-op chest x-ray but am not too concerned with it at this point.  I am looking at the first couple weeks in January for surgery so wish me luck and I hope that the next few weeks gives way to an insurance approval.  Stay tuned :)

So I have been noticing lately that day to day operations in my life are getting harder and harder to do!  This poses a problem to me because I have a very active lifestyle and a job that demands a healthy mind and body.  Im a full time Paramedic and it seems as though the past years have been spent taking care of others and letting myself go by the wayside.  Im tired, I hurt (past broken back) and I am fed up with it.  Ive tried multiple diets including the fire service and have not been able to get weight off.  I have gained 10 pounds each year since high school and currently weigh 300...  I cant do it!  I want a life.  I want to go ride my bike on steep downhills, I want to skydive, I want to hike, overall, I want to be happy.  So there it is-a new start.  

I need to pick my physician and am not sure how its all going to work out.  I am considering Dr. Machado out of Sacramento or Dr. Ludwig out of Chico.  Dr. Ludwig requires a $3500 aftercare fee which takes care of all related medical visits for two years.  Not sure how Dr. Machado does it but im going to give her a call tomorrow.  Wish me luck because hopefully, I will be a new and improved me.
