Hello all fellow lap-banders! here is my story. I was the skinny tall teenager. Then I had my first two kids at a very early age. That kicked off my weight gain. Went back and forth on various diets for the past 15 years. Put on even more with last child. I have always been able to loose the weight quickly, but also could regain just as quickly, because I was always going on "diets" and not changing my eating habits permanatly. So for past few years I had heard a little bit about lap band but always thought I didn't really qualify, because I was on the bmi borderline. Then in October (2007), a family member had lap band surgery. She convinced me to make the call. So in April of 2008 I began my journey. I went for initial consult and seminar in Apr. 2008, had appointments each month for 6 months (insurance thing), had various other appointments and procedures done, and then finally on Aug. 21, 2008 it happened! I had lap band surgery. I weighed 271.5 at my presurgery appointment. Today, I weigh 168.0! only 8 more pounds to go before goal!!!! People have asked me what my secret is, and honestly I dont know. Other than I try my best to only eat 3 meals, focus on that protien first rule, and stop when full. Oh and I only eat about 1000 cal a day. Yea I try and exercise, but I run alot because I have 3 kids, work ft as a paramedic, and also am in ft night and weekend RN school. So I never stop. If anyone is considering this surgery and wondering if its the right thing to do, all I can say is from my stance, its the BEST thing I EVER did! Wish I could have done it way sooner! Dont have a SINGLE regret! I am being called SKINNY, THIN, TINY! LOVING EVERY MINUTE! PLUS I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
